Drew Canole questions the metaverse hype, contrasting it with the multiverse and warning against losing human connection and nature in pursuit of virtual reality. He explores how social media and technology reshape our lives, skeptical of fully embracing digital worlds.
Hey my friend, Drew Canole. Welcome to the Drew and youn podcast. On this podcast, I want to tell you my overall thoughts on the metaverse, quote unquote. Mark Zuckerberg released this a couple weeks ago, same day that the new Matrix is actually was announced to come out, which is very, very, very interesting. And now the Matrix has the metaverse in their advertising and everything else. And if you've been tracking me for any time, you kind of know that the New World Economic Health Forum, whatever you want to call it, has a goal of having humanity by 2030 to own nothing and be happy about it. Be happy owning nothing, right? Imagine. So that all of these, all these huge corporations can own it for you. These multi-billionaires can own it for you. In the metaverse, what is it? Should we be in the metaverse? Should we have real estate in the metaverse? Mark Zuckerberg goes from owning Facebook, changing it to Meta, to becoming the largest real estate holder on the planet, and maybe a very short period of time depending on how many people buy into the whole quote unquote metaverse. So the metaverse is a virtual world filled with spaces that you can actually access, you can go into, and create your own environment. You can have your own house, your own home. And if anybody's bought virtual reality in the past, when HTC first came out, I got it, and then I bought Oculus, which I thought was interesting. I used it for a week, and then I was like, all right, I'm kind of over it, right? But with the new technological advances happening all the time, I mean, who knows? Maybe it'll look more and more real. My big thing is, is it didn't look that real. I don't have a haptic suit, so I'm not really feeling it in my body. Right. And the five senses that I do have, I can't smell anything in there. So I really think reality is much more juicy than the, I guess, the cartoons that we see in the virtual reality currently. Not to say that that's not going to change in the next year or two. And also, I could see why if I'm in a desertus area or someplace on the planet that doesn't have a lot of nightlife or a lot of stimulation with different people and shops around, then it may make sense to tap into the metaverse and travel to different places. But I do think there are always with some technological advances. I do think there's always downsides to it, right? Think about how much Facebook, Instagram, Myspace and these other apps have radically transformed our minds. Not always for good. Think about how much attention they take from us every single day. Think about how much time you're spending on social media. apps. I looked at my time log a few weeks ago. I was spending five hours on my cell phone. Like no wonder I have headaches and neck issues, looking down, tech neck, whatever you want to call it. These are dramatic things. As humans, we're not engaging face to face, eye to eye, heart to heart as much as we used to. And I see that being one of the big fatal flaws with this isolation. Community is immunity, I believe. And at the end of the day, the more we can connect, to our brothers and sisters on the planet at this time, the more we can work and play and learn and create together, the more powerful we are. So I don't know. I mean, I love meeting in person, 20 people on a team meeting versus being on a Zoom. And in 2020, at the start of this whole, quote unquote pandemic, we had to go on Zoom to meet. And that was heartbreaking. 'cause I love hugs, I love connecting with people. And I don't know about you, but I'm sure you're probably feeling pretty the same way. So, Zuckerberg and the whole squad has put billions of dollars into the creation of the metaverse. And we got to track it, we got to look at it, we got to use our intuition. A lot of the similarities within the matrix, Neo, the neocortex of the brain, and already Charles Schwab, some of these big, I guess, call them rulers of the planet, have been saying that one of the goals is to plug us into the neocortex. Elon Musk was caught saying this as well. And I think there's some fatal flaws to that. I think Mother Nature is divine, my friend. I think she has all the answers. I think God's connection and what we have on the planet at this time is remarkable. I think the more we try to have technology take the place of that, the more we give up our humanity, right? We could call it digital telepathy, but the more connected we are to nature and the more connected we are to the rest of the humans on the planet at this time, we already have telepathy. We already have all these superpowers that we're trying to obtain through technology. So how much will we give up of ourselves to have this level of tech. How much will we have to escape from our hearts and push us more into our minds? This whole world wants to put you in your mind. We are machine men and we are machine women. And I think the real goal is traveling the longest journey we'll ever take, and that's 17 inches from our mind into our heart. And the way to that is just to be outside in nature, to connect. You don't need anything. You don't need to buy anything. I mean, people will have more money in the virtual world, dogs and animals and art and NFTs and cars that are virtual that they can travel in and different probably vehicles. And who knows? I mean, the opportunity is endless. There will be billions of dollars in this virtual world and people are already spending $80 billion annually on virtual goods. You got all these young kids that are buying you know, jerseys and athletic gear for their players when they're playing the NBA online with each other and they're investing in different shoes for their avatars. It's absolutely crazy. And if you think about it, that's probably only going to go up based on analytics, based on the data, based on the tracking that's already happening. It's there. There'll be all these virtual currencies. Look at the nfts, look at these. meme coins that are out now, like Shiba Inu and Dogecoin, and look at the whole Bitcoin blockchain market. It's absolutely starting to boom, right? The destabilization of the currency, all of these things. So I think as a business, I mean, we've talked about it, and investing into the whole metaverse thing and trying to be omnipresent and omnichannel, But at Organifi, I mean, my friend, just between you and me, I really want to go back to grassroots. I want to connect in person. I want to, that's where the magic is, meeting eye to eye, heart to heart, and just really building that way. So as fun as the metaverse sounds and being all these virtual online gaming environments and everything else, I just, I love being human. I love being in reality. I'm really not trying to escape reality at this point. But it's an interesting journey, my friend, and if you haven't heard anything about it, check it out. I do know there's a lot of quote unquote gurus that are really revealing themselves talking about this. My intuition is telling me that it's kind of a sketchy thing to think about. Who knows? And you see some of these sci-fi movies and you look at it and it's mind-jacking, right? Like they steal your consciousness and they lock you into a virtual prison. It can be pretty dystopian if you think about it. And who's not to say we're not in assimilation now? Maybe we are. Who knows? At the end of the day, I don't know anything, my friend. And I think that's the first step in all of this, is to admit that we don't know anything. I have no idea. But what I do know is I love this life, I love this reality that we're in, and I'm just gonna watch it vigilantly. I'm gonna watch it with care, and I'm definitely not getting stuck in a virtual metaverse. That sounds terrible. It'd be like being in the DMV. So that is that. Check it out. I just wanted to talk a little bit about it. and hopefully this was helpful. If it was, let me know. Send me a message on Insta or on Telegram. You can follow me at Drew Cannoli. Let me know what's happening with you and what you think about all this. I think it's kind of weird at the end of the day. So I want to go back to the, the early 80s and the middle 80s when I was a child and experience building forts in the woods before there was all these games and all this online stuff. Just feel like life was a little bit better back I don't know about you though. In any event, wanted to record this, the Metaverse versus the Multiverse. I love accessing the multiverse. And if you're interested in that, maybe I can record a podcast on five ways to access your own personal multiverse every single day, to travel to different places in the cosmos, to have access to unbelievable information all the time. and we already have it. We already have all those parts in the brain that they're promising us that we can have unlimited information. They're saying that they're gonna plug our neocortex into Wi-Fi. We already have that. When we're still, when we get in our hearts, there's no past, no present, you're in the zero point field, you can connect to all the information. It's the negativa. It's what monks do. They meditate so much that they just lose themselves, their personality, and they step into the God force and they get all the information that has existed throughout all time. There's no such thing as time and space, right? It's just all here in the eternal now. That's the multiverse. It's free. It's here. It's now. Let me know if you're interested in that. I'd love to record a podcast on that as well. So, as always, remember we're in this together. We'll see you soon.
