Presentation (Press Ganey National Client Conference, Nov 9, 2011) reporting a national mixed-methods study of hospital core measures (AMI, HF, PN, SCIP). Methods: retrospective quantitative analysis (3Q2007–2Q2008) using quarterly composite scores, EWMA, and 2σ thresholds to classify hospitals as top/mid/low performers, plus semi-structured interviews of sampled hospitals and a Beverly Hospital case study. Key findings: primary differentiators of top performers are concurrent patient management, physician engagement, and executive engagement; secondary factors include communications, goal-setting, and PI structure. The deck includes practical steps (game plan) and dashboards/OPPE reporting examples from Beverly Hospital.
