Short excerpt from a YouTube video titled "An Approach to Total Wellness" (created/uploaded by Dr. Joshua John-Ram Schacter). Multiple speakers discuss that orthopedic surgeries (e.g., joint replacements) are elective procedures, and describe how the COVID-era slowdown in 2020 prompted the practice to pause and adopt a whole-body/holistic approach to optimize orthopedic treatment.
The surgeries that we do, orthopedic surgeries are elective surgeries. I mean, I know we don't think of replacing someone's knee as a joint replacement as elective surgery, but it is.
We found that in order to optimize our orthopedic treatment, we really needed to address the whole body. And so that's what brought us to where we are today.
Right? I mean, we have really as a practice since 2020 had a moment to pause because the surgeries that we do, orthopedic surgeries are elective surgeries. I mean, I know we don't think of a replacing someone's knee as a joint replacement as elective surgery, but it is. And so during that year, you both had to slow down tremendously in the surgeries you did. But it gave us an opportunity to pause. And in that pause, we all as a group, first as individuals and then as a group really knew that we needed to make a change for patients SA.
