A short YouTube-form talk (July 21, 2023 upload per metadata) by Dr. Joshua Schachter, a board‑certified orthopedic surgeon and CEO of Pinnacle Integrative Orthopedics, describing his personal experience with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and arguing that an integrated wellness program (HRT + functional medicine + supervised weight loss + orthobiologic joint treatments) improves joint pain outcomes and overall wellbeing. He presents HRT as life-changing for symptoms of male andropause and positions his clinic’s combined approach as a way to delay or avoid surgery.

My name is Dr. Joshua Schachter Do. I am a board certified orthopedic surgeon, and I am the CEO and medical director of Pinnacle Integrative Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Wichita Falls, Texas. And today I want to talk to you a little bit about some of the benefits of hormone replacement therapies and why we at Pinnacle believe that an integrated wellness program is an essential part of any treatment of joint pain. Well, first off, I am personally a recovering hormone wreck. I have been on hormone replacement therapy since I was 33 years old. I'm 46 now, and. And hormone replacement therapy has changed my life in a lot of different ways. When I was first diagnosed with andropause, which is the male version at menopause, I noticed that I had a significant amount of fatigue. I had muscular weakness, I had difficulty with workouts. I was disinterested in sex, obviously because of the low hormones. And I found that I had some unwanted weight gain, significant difficulty with sleeping. And so I was evaluated. A lot of my primary care physicians just told me it was a normal part of aging, and I didn't really want to accept that. So I moved on and sought the opinion of a specialist here in my community. And what we found was that my hormones were extremely low. And once we had started treatment, it significantly changed my life. My energy levels shot up, I was able to achieve excellent gains in the gym, my relationship with my wife improved, my sleep improved, and overall better outlook. And so at Pinnacle Integrative Orthopedics, one of the goals of my practice when we started this whole project was to provide patients with an improved health and wellness lifespan. And so that's our goal when we see a patient for joint pain. Most of our patients in our modern society are stressed out and maybe overweight and a little bit deconditioned. All of these things can be contributed to by low hormones. And so our goal is to restore your hormone and your optimal living balance so that we can provide you with better, more predictable joint pain relief. We couple our wellness program, which is an integrated approach to hormone replacement therapy, medical wellness, functional medicine, approaches to diet and exercise, as well as medical supervised weight loss with our joint pain treatments, which incorporate biologics, therapies, which are safe and effective and can in a lot of instances, replace or significantly delay surgical intervention. And so we feel here at Pinnacle that we can provide you with an excellent opportunity to treat your joint pain, treat your fatigue, treat your lifestyle, and help you to achieve the peak of wellness, as we call it. My own experience has been excellent. I underwent a PRP treatment using one of our protocols about three months ago, and I'm continuing to improve every day. And so if you feel some of these treatments would benefit you or you're interested in talking about bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, our wellness program, or orthobiologics in general, please give us a call or come on in to see us and make an appointment. We look forward to seeing you and helping you achieve the peak of wellness.
