There are so many options for our patients that don't involve damaging the joint. So I get a lot of questions. Why do we not do steroid injections anymore? Well, very simply, steroids suck. So when you have a steroid injected into your tissue or your joints, it immediately starts to cause damage. It may lower the inflammation in that joint, it may help you with your pain, but it is a cost that your your future self will not thank you for. If you have more than one or two steroid injections in a year, it's been shown to advance your arthritis pretty significantly. So if we inject steroids into a healthy joint, that is a dis. So steroid injections are bad. We've known that they're bad since 1951 when we started doing them. Orthopedic surgeons have other alternatives and I feel very strongly that they should be used. So prp, bone marrow, aspirin injections, stem cell therapies. There are so many options for our patients that don't involve damaging the joint. Come and see us. Come check it out and explore your options.
