Hip replacement at age 38? Orthobiologics procedures have helped Kassie avoid major surgery.

A short YouTube testimonial by Dr. Joshua John-Ram Schacter with patient Kassie about her developmental hip dysplasia and non-surgical treatment at Pinnacle Integrative Orthopedics. Kassie received orthobiologic procedures (bone marrow aspirate/stem cell injection and a series of PRP injections) and participation in a Pinnacle Wellness program; she reports ~70% symptom relief, rapid return to work (next day), improved mobility and ability to play with her children, and that the out-of-pocket cost felt worthwhile compared with eventual hip replacement.

All right, fantastic. And Cassie came to us with some hip problems. Yeah, she was actually born this way. She has a problem that's called developmental hip dysplasia, which creates a lot of problems in the hip joint. And she's so young and active that we really didn't feel like surgery was an option.
No, I did not want to do that yet.
All right, so. So great. What. Would you just let me know what your life was like before your treatment? What were you able to. What were you unable to do that made you upset?
So the last year or so before, I just started having a lot of pain. I was limited on my walking. I couldn't go out and do the activities with my family like I wanted or get up and move around with my students. And I just felt like I'd come home at the end of the day and I could just have to sit down, and I just couldn't move at the end of the day. I'd have to use a cane at some points in time because the pain would be so bad.
Okay. Yeah, absolutely. And then what. What finally triggered you to come in and meet us and.
Well, I just kind of wanted to see some options that I could do. I really didn't want to do a hip replacement. You had treated my father in law and did great with him, and so he gave me your name. And I'm really glad that I came in. Kind of see some other options for sure.
Absolutely. And what concerns did you have prior to the procedure? So let just on her. We did bone marrow aspirates. We did stem cell injection. We also did a series of prp. She's. She's gotten significant relief from her symptoms, at least 70%. And that's one of the. That's one of our main procedures that we do here at Pinnacle. So what. What kind of concerns did you have prior to that?
At first, I was kind of. I didn't really know if this was going to work. I had my disbeliefs for sure. And I didn't think it was going to last for a long time period. And I was kind of worried about the pain as far as, like, the bone marrow transplant and PRP injections.
And what was the. What were the procedures like?
They were a little painful. It was kind of scary for me just because I'm afraid of needles. But it went by really quickly, and I think we're going to see good results with. On.
Oh, fantastic. Okay. What kind of downtime did you have?
After our procedure, I was back within the next day teaching.
And so you Were back at work the next day. Fantastic. So what's life like now? What have you been doing that you haven't been able to do?
It's so much better. I walk throughout the day, the whole day, and come home, and my hip still is fine. I don't have the pain like I did. I can go walks with my kids and play with them outdoors. Go just do different activities that I couldn't do before.
Fantastic. Fantastic. So what would you tell somebody that's considering working with Pinnacle Integrative Orthopedics in our biologics department or our wellness programs?
I would say definitely give it a try, because this is a whole lot better option than having surgery, for sure. So.
And you're also doing our Pinnacle Wellness program as well. So how has that changed life for you? Does that feel like it's making a huge difference?
Yes, definitely. I think that's helped with inflammatory and helped with my pain, and it's also giving me some much more energy that I didn't have before.
Okay. You have anything else that you want to talk about?
Just that I think this is great what y' all are doing, and I'm glad that I've tried it, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing if this helps for a long period of time.
So let's talk a little bit about the elephant in the room.
Okay.
This is not paid for by insurance.
No, it is not. So it's not. And it's.
And it's money. It's real money. And so what would you say to somebody who's considering spending that money on one of these processes?
The amount was kind of scary at first. Um, but I think it was definitely worth it because in the end, it was cheaper than having to pay for a hip replacement for sure. So I think. I mean, great. Go ahead and just remember that. So thank you so much.
We really appreciate you and. And appreciate your attitude. Attitude is something that really helps us with everything that we do. So thank you so much.
Thank you.
Appreciate it.
Thank you.
