A short transcript excerpt from a YouTube video by Dr. Joshua John-Ram Schacter documenting a clinical visit at Genesis with patient Nanette. The doctor explains that Nanette has a left shoulder injury with a small fracture of the humeral head ("ball of her shoulder") and that they will perform a bone marrow aspirate to address her pain; the clip captures pre-procedure conversation and patient consent/feelings.
I know exactly what is going to be done, and I'm really excited and nervous at the same time.
Today we're here at Genesis, and I have Nanette here. She's been in pain with her shoulder for so long. Right. Nanette, she's had an injury to her left shoulder working on today, and she actually broke a little bit of the ball of her shoulder, and it's really caused us a lot of problems. And today we're going to do bone marrow aspirate to her left shoulder. She's really excited because, man, she's been hurting. Right.
Yes, I do have.
Any questions.
About anything.
Has it been pretty well explained to you what we're going to do?
Yes, I know exactly what is going to be done, and I'm really excited and nervous at the same time.
Yeah, absolutely. But we're going to get back there, we're going to take great care of her. So when we start, we're going to get you back in the back, and then we're going to start an iv, and then the procedure itself, we're going to harvest. It takes about 10 minutes, and the processing takes about 20 minutes, and then the procedure itself takes another 10 minutes.
