Patient testimonial from Stella Haas (recorded for Dr. Joshua John-Ram Schacter’s YouTube channel) describing severe left-leg pain and mobility limitations (could not lie on left side; limping). Stella recounts fear of needles and concerns about a bone marrow procedure, but reports that the bone marrow extraction was less painful than expected and easier than prior injections. She experienced short-term post-procedure discomfort manageable with Tylenol and a heating pad, and within about three weeks reported improved ability to lie on her left side, bend her knee more, and reduced pain/limping. She praises the care team and Dr. Schacter for clear explanations and follow-up.

May I get your name, please? Stella Haas. And your age? I will be 67 in two months.
I could not lay on my left side at all. I mean, I would go to bed at night, and I didn't want to just lay on my back and I would turn, and immediately I knew I made a mistake. I had to get right off of it and get to my right side. And that one mower is the greatest, but my left. It was painful.
Pain. I was in. My left leg was in so much extreme pain. My right leg was bothering me, but my left leg, I couldn't lay on my left side. I couldn't. I limped, sort of, and I. I realized I was lifting, and I would try not to, but I was in a lot of pain.
I was scared because I am a person that doesn't like needles. And when they said that they had to do the bone marrow, I was scared. I was like, your palms are wet scared. But that procedure was not bad. I did not hurt. She explained everything thorough to me and that she deadened everything. I did not hurt. I could feel that she was doing stuff. The only. When she was taking the marrow out, she would say, tell me if you feel anything. And a few times I'd feel a little. Not pain pain, but a little uncomfortable. And I would tell her. She would just slow down. No pain after that. And it. It worked. It worked well. I'll tell you that bone marrow was easier than the injections. And I was shocked.
I was scared at first, but it was good because she talked me through the whole thing. And they even put music on that you want to hear, and it's just like, you know, your tensions start leaving, you know, I'm all tensed up. They got the music on, and she's explaining every step of the way. Everything just puts you totally at ease. And then she tells you what she's doing, and then when she starts doing the work and it's not hurting, you know, hey, she knows what she's talking about. It. It doesn't hurt.
The next. That night, I was pretty much in pain. I. I don't. Not extreme pain. I took two Tylenol, and I put my finger. And I had a heating pad with a little throw quilt. And. And after I got those quilts in place, I was comfortable. I was in pain for, like, a very uncomfortable. Not extreme pain, but I was uncomfortable for about an hour, hour and a half. But once I had the heating pad with the Tylenol, I put the quilts over that. I was home free. I was comfortable and I was good.
I can lay on my left side and. And I can bend my knee more. I can go to bed and if I want to turn over on my left side, I can. If I want to turn on my right side, I'm okay too. But I can. I haven't been able to get on my left side in years, but I can get on my left side and I'm not. I mean, I would have to slowly move back over and try to ease my leg out. I'd be in so much pain. I don't have that now. And I only had this treatment many ways three weeks ago. It kid them. I was amazed. I was surprised.
I would tell them, it's worth every cent because your life will improve the quality of just being a normal person. Not having to be reminded of your pain and stuff all the time. That's a big one. It will change your life.
I just. Everyone that I've talked to about anything, if I've had any questions or anything, they've been very kind. They took the time like, oh, yeah, we'll tell you. Don't worry about it. We've got the time. And they explained it. And Dr. Schacter, he's just above and beyond. He. He said I had to ask him some questions after the fact. Once, after he'd already spent an hour with us, he said, no, no, ask anytime you want. That's what I'm here for. So this, the whole group has just really made me comfortable.
