A YouTube interview (episode 141) in which Dr. Christian Gonzalez recounts a powerful personal anecdote about nocturnal convulsions—physical shaking and vision-like experiences—interpreting them as his body processing long-avoided emotions rather than seizures or spiritual events. The episode centers on somatic/emotional processing and tapping into the inner self for wellbeing; the speaker contrasts cognitive analysis with experiential, non-thinking body-driven release.

I went through this week many years ago, and I would. I'd be sleeping and I wake up and my whole body would wake up convulsing and shaking, you know? And, like, if a doctor came in, they'd be like, that man's having a seizure, you know, and get it. Get him these medications and we'll do this. And if a priest came in, they'd be like, he's having an exorcism. You know, we need to do an exorcism. Right? But in reality, it was my body processing everything that I was avoiding or at least would need it to be expressed for so many years because I was cognitively trying to figure shit out, right? I was trying to figure it out. When was the time that I became, like, the way that I am? Well, what happened with my mom? What happened with my dad? What happened in school? Oh, this memory. And in that moment, as I'm shaking in my bed and contorting like the Exorcist and making these weird sounds, and I've always been actually very visual, so I close my eyes, I can see visions and just many things that are going on in my head and memories. I'm going to myself, oh, my God. It has nothing to do with my thoughts. It has nothing to do with what I'm thinking. Because that process was a process of no thought. It was pure experiential processing. It was the body going, I had enough of you trying to take the reins on what is healthy for me. I'm going to do this.
