A short persuasive YouTube-style talk by Dr. Nicole Cain arguing that the dominant medical paradigm for treating anxiety is flawed because it treats anxiety as the problem rather than a symptom signaling deeper issues. She contrasts common treatments (prescription medications and CBT) with a proposed paradigm shift that views the body as wise and symptoms as guidance toward what needs healing, and offers a solution and programs (link in bio) for those who want to heal rather than just cope.

Here's the truth of why you haven't healed from anxiety yet. When you go to the doctor and you tell them that you're struggling with anxiety, what do they do? Well, if you have a compassionate doctor, they'll try to solve the problem. Right. Treatment is often twofold. Prescription medications. And if you're lucky, they'll recommend CBT or cognitive behavioral therapy counseling. So we have two major issues here. One is the paradigm, and two are the treatments that come from that paradigm. If you look at anxiety as the problem, you're never going to allow anxiety to tell you what the problem actually is. The paradigm is all wrong. Have you ever played that game whack a mole? The mole pops up, you whack it with a hammer, it goes down, but then another one pops up. That is a metaphor for the dominant medical model's approach to treating anxiety. It doesn't work. This is why, despite so many incredible medical advancements, we have record breaking numbers of people that are struggling with anxiety. It's not because the science is wrong. It's because the reason that. And there is a solution. There is a solution that works and you can actually heal from anxiety. But that means you have to flip your paradigm. We have to consider that our body is wise and in its wisdom it's producing symptoms, including anxiety, to tell you what needs healing and how. And I'm here to help. If you're tired of taking handfuls of pills, spending tons of time doing anxiety coping skills, and if you want to heal from anxiety, click on the link in the bio.
