A short YouTube video (Dr. Sanda Moldovan) discussing pros and cons of mouth rinses. Dr. Moldovan warns that some rinses (e.g., Listerine) have low pH (~3) which can demineralize teeth with overuse, notes benefits for gingivitis from essential oils, and recommends alcohol-free, pH-balanced rinses (brands mentioned: OxyFresh, Jason, Perrier rinse) while emphasizing rinses do not replace brushing and flossing.

Foreign Hi everyone, I'm Dr. Sandha and I want to tackle the question, are mouth rinses good for me? Well, a lot of you have sent me questions if you have a favorite mouth rinse. So let's talk about that. Listerine, for example, you have to be careful with because it actually has a low ph of about 3. So if you overuse it, you can actually demineralize your teeth. But it does have some good essential oils which actually help with gingivitis. I prefer personally a more natural approach to mouth rinses. So we have a variety of rinses like Oxy Fresh, we have like a Perrier rinse and also we have from a company called Jason. And you could get these with or without fluoride. But the important thing is that these mouth rinses do not have any alcohol and they're also PH balanced so your teeth don't get demineralized while you mouth rinse. And remember, mouth rinses are not there to replace brushing. You still have to brush and floss. But if you have something that you really like, read the ingredients and make sure it's not just colored water. Do you have a favorite mouth rinse that you want to ask me about? You could tweet me at DrSanda or go to my website at DrSandamoldovan.com until next time.
