My name is Dr. Sanda Moldova. I was born in the Transylvania part of Romania. I went to undergraduate at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, after which I went to dental school at Ohio State University, followed by three years of periodontal residency at ucla. A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in dealing with structures around the tooth. Everything that we do in dentistry as well as in medicine is evidence based today, meaning we have research behind the products and the techniques that we use. A periodontist has a three year training in doing dental implants as well as bone augmentation that may be required prior to placing an implant. So my work is very creative because a lot of the techniques that I would use with my scalpel I used to use when I was painting with a brush. I teach at UCLA in the continuing education department. I love to be outdoors, nature, hiking, diving, photography, and I love yoga, especially because it actually helped me stretch and keeps my hands flexible. I do volunteer my time, especially to Homeless Not Toothless, which is a non profit organization that Dr. J. Grossman started 10 years ago. I love what I do for several reasons. It incorporates many aspects of my life such as loving to be with people, helping people, working with my hands, which I've been doing since I was five years old. I love the detail and the work. I always love biology. I love surgery, but also periodontics allows me to have details and has more of an artistic part than for say oral surgery, which is also a surgical profession. I think one of my best qualities, not only as a person but as a doctor, is listening to patients. I also incorporate alternative medicine and natural healing ailments in my treatments. We design smiles.
