08:22 on this Tuesday morning. One thing many people nationwide are getting back into this summer is traveling. But is our immune system ready for it? Dr. Sanda Moldovan is live to answer some questions about that. I think for a lot of people traveling, maybe getting on a plane or getting in a situation they're not familiar with, are worried about getting sick or bringing something home. Yes. Good morning, Dan. Good morning. Talk about the isolation and the social distancing. Did that actually do harm to our immune systems? Yes, absolutely. Especially those of us who stayed inside the house. When we're outside, we actually get a lot of vitamin D from the sun. And I think most people haven't been keeping up with their vitamins. Fresh fruits and vegetables to really get the vitamins we need to support our immune system. Well, and that makes sense. Yeah. And there's a lot of things we can do, though, nowadays in order to get ready for summer, get ready to be outdoors and not be afraid, because stress in itself also lowers the immune system. Okay. So another thing, too. I've always heard this doctor is encouraging you to take care of your oral health. Brush your teeth more, because your mouth can be a gateway. Right. To ailments. Absolutely. The mouth is the gateway to our health. Why? Because we can harbor so much bacteria. And actually the. The immune system can be dampened or stressed out if you have oral infections such as infected root canals or gum disease or bad breath. Bad breath is typically a sign of an imbalance. And we know when we have healthy mouth, healthy flora, healthy bacteria on the mouth, we're going to have a healthier body and a better life. And that makes sense as well. But the thing about it is, if we are going to be traveling somewhere, what should we be doing ahead of time and how far ahead of time? That's a great question. And there's really like three or four things that are very important. Number one, get enough sleep. Very, very important. Take your vitamin D. All studies have shown that taking the adequate amount of vitamin D is very important for the immune system. Also taking vitamin D with K1 and K2, a lot of people don't know this. K1 and K2 are vitamins that are easily found in dark leafy greens that help with vitamin D and calcium absorption. Xylitol. Xylitol is one of those sweeteners that really helps us with viral infections. There's actually a study on COVID 19 and xylitol showing that xylitol regulates the immune system and it really reduces the respiratory tract infection. Sinusitis and from viruses to really creep up on us. So. So I highly recommend that you find some great xylitol. That's spelled with an X. Chewables. Such as? Like, we have probiotics. Xylitol chewables. That helps to keep your respiratory infections away. Love it. Doc, thank you so much for the time. My pleasure, Diane. Have a great day. You as well.
