Radio interview excerpt (Dr. Sanda Moldovan on 790 KABC) about oral health and nutrition promoting her book Heal Up!. Dr. Sanda emphasizes that tooth loss is due to disease (not inevitable aging) and gives natural, low-effort recommendations: brush plus floss or water-floss/water jets, treat cavities, bleeding gums, ulcers and dry mouth, and use nutritional substitutions (e.g., alternatives to sugary sodas) rather than strict bans. The clip also includes a personal origin anecdote (family emigrating/starting in Cleveland, Ohio) and notes psychological/social effects of smile appearance (confidence, hiding when missing teeth).

Yes, it's the best asset of somebody, and it tells a lot about somebody's smile. Let's say somebody has yellow teeth. It shows more like illness. But we look at a bright white smile with bigger teeth. That shows a lot of confidence. So typically when somebody's missing teeth, they're not smiling, they're hiding the same way.
Like with a clothes, and they're hiding emotionally and they're hiding psychologically, and they may be hiding other medical issues. In your book, Sonda, that you have coming up, what are some of the natural ways that people can approach dental health in heal up?
So heal up is really labor of love. And I have a lot of things there about healing not only the teeth from, let's say, cavities, but also bleeding gums, ulcers, dry mouth remedies. It really doesn't take a lot to take care of our smile and to have it last a long time. People think it's common to lose teeth as we get older, but it really isn't. It's just due to disease. So I encourage everyone not only. Only to brush, but to use floss or water jets or water floss. If you don't like to floss. Like, how many people really like to use string floss?
You know, it's always that. That shame, like a week before you're going to the dentist, oh, I gotta start flossing. I gotta start flossing every day, five times a day.
But you know something funny? You actually. People start doing that, we can actually see the floss cuts on the gums.
Oh, really? So we're all kind of as. As culprits.
As a nutritionist, I always believe in substitutions. Don't be so harsh, you know, and say, don't have this, don't. And, you know, just, you know, six cokes a day. Okay, let's find something to substitute it with. Something that maybe is just as tasty in terms of switching things. We came with nothing, you know, two luggages, a person. My mom, my dad, my brother, and myself. And we were in Cleveland, Ohio. Yes, we had some friends there.
That's where it all started.
Yeah, that's what it all started. Cleveland, Ohio. And it's just that my mom and dad always motivated me to learn to do more and to search. And I had an inquisitive mind. And whatever opportunities, opportunity was given to me, I took it. I said yes before I thought about it, and then I figured out how to do it.
