Dr. Sanda Moldovan presents a short YouTube message for Pain Awareness Month describing common chronic pain types (TMJ, lower back, toothache) and suggesting natural approaches: stretching exercises, night guard appliance for TMJ, acupuncture for severe cases, and an elimination of wheat for two weeks to test possible gluten-related lower back pain. She ends by inviting questions via Twitter @askdrsanda.

Hi everyone. I'm Dr. Sanda. I wanted to talk to you today about chronic pain and why chronic pain. Because today or not today, but the whole month is actually the month of pain awareness. And so many of you suffer from chronic pain, whether it's lower back pain, whether it is a toothache, whether it's TMJ pain. And pain is usually a sign of imbalance or inflammation. Either one needs to be addressed or else it can result in clinical manifestations such as disability or even infection. So for things as simple as TMJ pain, you can try something more natural, like stretching exercises or even wearing a night guard appliance. That could relieve the pressure in the joint. For things that are more severe, maybe you can try acupuncture, like if you have lower back pain, for example. But what might surprise you is that lower back pain can be caused by a gluten insensitivity. So just try quitting wheat for two weeks and see if your pain improves. If you have any questions, you could tweet me @askdrsanda.
