Dr. Singh explains the minimum exercise needed to stay healthy: 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity weekly, plus six sets per muscle group for strength. He suggests "exercise snacking" throughout the day: 20 push-ups, 20 squats, and a 60-second plank every few hours, no gym required.

We all know that we need exercise to stay healthy and fit, but how much exercise do we need? So 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise in a week is minimum. You can do more, that's fantastic, but minimum 150 minutes. So what is moderate intensity exercise? Activity like biking, climbing stairs, running, they all come under aerobic activity. When you maintain elevated heart rate above a level that you are not comfortable but you are not uncomfortable either. You are able to have a conversation, but you prefer not to have. This is what defines a moderate-intensity exercise in like simple language. You don't have to check your heart rate and zone 2 and all that stuff, you know. You don't have to do that. You can just follow these signs of your body. How much of a strength training we need? Uh, so just to preserve the muscle mass, we need 6 sets of each muscle group a week just to maintain the muscle mass. If you want to gain muscle mass, okay, you need to do more than that. So now you can do minimum 2 sessions a week of strength training. Now, if someone is tight on time, I recommend 3 exercises. So the first one is push-ups, second one is bodyweight squats, and third one is planks. So you do 15 to 20 push-ups, then you do 15 to 20 bodyweight squats, and then you hold planks for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Now, this makes a 1 cycle. You can do 1 cycle, 2, 3, 4 cycles at a time and repeat the cycles every hour, every 2 hours, every 3 hours. So basically, you can do the exercise throughout your day and you can do them anywhere. So this is how our bodies have evolved. We were not meant to go to gym 1 hour and then 23 hours we are sitting on a couch like a couch potato. So this is called exercise snacking. This is very much aligned with how our body works. Stay healthy and stay informed. Signing off.
