Dr. Victoria Veytsman Discusses a Patient Case Study

Hi, I'm Dr. Victoria Veitzman, I'm a cosmetic dentist based in New York City and la. I'm going to talk to you today about a patient case we recently completed on a 25 year old female patient of ours. She's actually a nursing student and wanted to get her smile as perfect as possible for her nursing school graduation. When this patient came in, her main concern was that her teeth looked too small, too narrow. She didn't like the stick spacing between the teeth. She felt she was showing too much gum when she smiled. So the way we tackled this situation was we did what we call a smile lift, gum lift with something called crown lengthening, where we actually raised the gum level a little bit to be able to the illusion of longer teeth without actually making them longer. What we do is raise them vertically. Now when she smiles, we've got the illusion of longer teeth, we've got a brighter smile, got a brighter, broader smile, broaden the sides to give that extra pop that she wanted. When we look at this patient's full face, we can see that now with this smile, really balances her facial features much better. She has these beautiful full lips, nice wide set eyes. And her teeth before were a little bit too small comparatively to that. So now with teeth that are wider, longer, broader, everything flows a bit better. Really enhanced her full facial harmony. Balance patients super happy with her smile, confident, so ready for her nursing school graduation, which she had worked very hard for.
