Can you tell us what the connection is between the smile, systemic health and beauty? Yeah, that is an amazing question, because I feel like dentistry has often existed in this silo. And the truth is everything is interconnected. In our practice, we have a trifecta philosophy where we integrate oral health, systemic health and beauty. You know, as a cosmetic dentist, we do these amazing smile transformations. But it's really important to remember that health is really the foundation of all beauty. You can't have a beautiful smile without a healthy smile. Then when it comes to systemic health, I think that a lot of people don't realize the huge correlation between oral health and systematic health. So just as an example, there are huge correlations between dysbiosis, meaning an imbalance in your oral microbiome, and say, irritable bowel disease or even things like eczema. There is oral gut access, but there's also oral gut skin access and beyond that, access to the brain. There are studies that show that some bacteria found in the mouth patients with something like periodontitis or inflammation of the gums is found in Alzheimer's patients. There is a huge correlation between oral microbiome and neurodegenerative disorders overall inflammation, because any inflammation that starts in your mouth is going to release immunomodulating molecules that are traveling system. So it's really important to remember that everything really is connected.
