Quick Chrome Kilo Dopp Kit and Hondo Backpack Hands-on

In this short video Dylan Andersen showcases two recent purchases from the outdoor brand Chrome: the 1‑liter Kilo Dopp toiletry kit and the 21‑liter Hondo backpack in a camo finish. He walks through each product’s design, materials, and functional details, highlighting features such as a car‑seat‑belt‑style strap on the Dopp kit, expandable interior pouches, hidden anti‑theft zippers, padded laptop sleeve, water‑bottle compartments, and breathable neoprene back panel on the backpack. Andersen comments on the build quality he associates with Chrome, noting that higher price usually reflects better materials. He purchased the backpack on clearance for about $35 (regularly $100) and evaluates its value, fit for a tall user (6'3"), and overall suitability for short trips or daily carry. The tone is informal and enthusiastic, with a focus on practical usability rather than technical specifications.

Hey, how's it going? I just want to make a quick video just to showcase a couple items I recently got from Chrome. I don't see a lot of reviews of chrome stuff on YouTube, mainly like older stuff. And I know through the years they always do little modifications on the items. So these ones I just recently ordered from their website, the first cool thing I got was the Chrome Kilo Dopp kit. So this guy here is basically a 1 liter DOPP kit. If you're not familiar with the name, it's basically a toiletry bag. You can fit things like deodorant, toothpaste, your toothbrush, all that kind of stuff in there. And you know, the reason I kind of like Chrome stuff is because they, they definitely put a lot of quality in their products. Yeah, you're paying a higher price at the end of the day, but the quality is really nice. So on this bag in particular, the belt on the back here, the little strap is actually really inspired, if not made by the same material that you'd find in a car seatbelt strap. So that's kind of cool. You get a nice little hook here if you want to hang it from somewhere. But the cool thing is if you have like a carabiner and you're in a bathroom, you can also hang it here. Other than that, here on the back we have like nice little mesh material. Again, one liter bag, not super, super complicated. Inside here you do have these two kind of little nice expandable pouches. You have two of those there and you can put some items that you don't want to move around. But other than that, like I said, with a 1 liter bag, there's plenty of room to kind of fit your stuff. If you're going out for a weekend or even for a week, I'm sure you can fit plenty in here. So yeah, that's the Kilo Dopp kit from. From Chrome. There's a Kilo there Dopp kit from Chrome. It's really cool so far. I really like it. I'm excited to put stuff in there. The other item I have is a backpack. I got the Hondo backpack from Chrome here in a camo color and I guess I'm matching today. I didn't even think about that. But yeah, really cool little backpack. I was really in the market for something that was like a small 20 to 25 liter backpack that was well made and relatively affordable. I'm 6 foot 3. I'm a taller guy. So small backpacks tend not to look really great. But I did want something in that range. So I could kind of do walk around and if I'm going out for a couple days, if I'm traveling, I can, I can fit some cool stuff in there. So this bag kind of caught my attention because again, I love chrome stuff, I love the build quality. But this bag in particular, being 21 liters and being relatively affordable, this is $100 bag. I think even at that price it's a pretty good purchase. Yeah, like I said, you're paying for the chrome branding, you're paying for some of these extra things. But I got this one on clearance I think for 35 bucks because this color either didn't sell well or they're just not gonna make it anymore. So for 35 bucks, I mean, it's an awesome bag, but yeah, walking you through it real quick. So on the front here you have the, you know, typical chrome branding. You have kind of your straps here, which is nice, and then this bigger strap here behind it is actually sort of a hidden zipper. This is really popular in a lot of chrome bags. And then this compartment, like I said, goes down pretty far, so my fingers are down about there. Pretty nice, pretty, pretty cool. And again, sort of like an anti theft thing so people don't kind of open up your zippers and start taking stuff out. On the inside of the bag here you have quite a bit of room here. Pretty straightforward for a bag. You have kind of a padded, actually pretty padded laptop sleeve. Supposedly supposed to do a 15 inch computer. I have a 13 inch surface laptop. Fits awesome in there. You have a smaller compartment here that goes down just a little bit. This one I wouldn't say is big enough to fit a tablet, but certainly some other items that you'd like to carry, maybe your charger for your laptop, things like that down here, got some more chrome branding. You have just a little pouch here, some pen pouches here. And that's about it in the middle of the bag. Like I said, At 21 liters you still have quite a bit of room. You can kind of see me flattening out the bottom here. Some good padding here on the bottom. Some weatherproofing material here as well, which is cool. The other features I noticed I like on this bag a lot too as well is having the water bottle compartments here is really cool. You got one on each side. And I usually carry a 40 ounce hydro flask, wide mouth. So it's a pretty big boy. But let me try to get this guy in here. Fits pretty well actually. So the cool thing is, yeah, I mean, it fits super nice. Again, if you have good weight on your bag, it's not going to sink like this, but yeah, it definitely fits in there pretty nice. And again, this is the biggest hydro flask. They make kind of like a walk around. They make the bigger jugs, of course. Finally, on the back here, the Hondo backpack. The straps. Chrome makes great straps. I notice a lot of backpack manufacturers these days don't really take time to look into straps and what they can do and what they can't do. But chrome definitely put some cool padding. You got a bunch of hooks. You can hang a lot of stuff from the straps here. Their chest sternum strap here is really nice. A lot of branding on there. Don't know if it's removable, to be honest with you. I've tried it seems like you probably could take it out, but there's sort of this plastic piece here that's kind of inhibiting that. Other than that, I love the backpack. The cool thing is the straps can be folded back if you want for whatever reason. In the back here you can kind of see this is really common on chrome bags. Sort of a neoprene material and then definitely some pathways for air so your back doesn't get too hot. I do wish that, yeah, this was mesh because those backpacks that have mesh here seem to be the best for airflow. But it is what it is on that. So, yeah, just a quick little review, a walkthrough of the chrome Hondo backpack. I like it a lot. For 35 bucks, it's kind of a no brainer, but even at 100 bucks, I think it's a, it's a, you know, definitely a qualifying purchase because it does really well. So, yeah, chrome Hondo backpack and then the Kilo little Dopp kit here. Pretty cool. Thanks.
