Welcome to the High Income Business Writing Podcast, helping you propel your writing business to a whole new level. And now, here's your host, Ed Gandia.
Hey there. Welcome to the High Income Business Writing Podcast. I am your host, Ed Gandia and this is the podcast for business writers and copywriters who want to earn more and less time doing work they love. Better Client this episode is a little different and much shorter than usual rather than my typical 45 minute format. Today I'm sharing a quick tip with you and this is part of the regular audio insights that I publish for my private coaching clients. I just thought you'd find it helpful. So here we go. I hope you enjoy it.
Qualifying prospects is important. So is knowing what questions to ask and understanding your ideal client avatar. But most important of all is having the discernment to know which prospect is going to work out well for you and which one won't. So here's the thing. You can ask two prospects the same set of questions and you can get the same set of answers from each. But one prospect will feel a bit off while the other one will feel right. That's why, as much as I know, it's understandable to start a conversation over email. That's how much of them do start these days. There's nothing like having a phone or zoom conversation with that prospect to get a feel for them. I've pursued plenty of prospects over the years who look great on paper, but who were miserable people to work with. And I'm sure you have too. So yes, ask the right questions, but also take the time to read between the lines, to look at the context and trust your gut. Don't discount your sixth sense because it's probably right.
