Today I'm sharing a quick tip with you. This is part of the audio insights I publish for my private coaching clients every weekday and I thought you'd find it helpful. So here we go. Very often, the most valuable service you offer as a writer isn't your writing, it's actually your strategic insight. Think about it as you write those articles or emails, case studies, that sort of thing, you're spotting critical patterns. You're spotting gaps in the client's messaging or missed opportunities or strategic disconnects that could be costing your clients serious money. This is pure gold. But only if you speak up now. Most writers never make this leap. They stay in their comfort zone by taking orders and just churning out content. They see the same problems and opportunities you do, but they keep quiet, focusing solely on the deliverables have been asked to work on. Being strategic isn't just about spotting opportunities. It's about taking the lead. When you see a client needs direction. And this often happens early in the relationship when a client can't quite make up their mind about what they want. The scope keeps shifting, objectives keep changing, and suddenly you're being dragged along instead.

So here's how to turn the situation around. When you spot a strategic gap or see a client struggling with clarity, raise it and raise it professionally. Focus first on how the lack of direction impacts your ability to serve them effectively. Then propose a solution that looks something like this. And this is just a sample script. Based on what I'm seeing, I think we could create significantly better results with a proper content roadmap. Would you be open to discussing a separate strategy session where I could audit your existing content, interview some of your key stakeholders, and then develop a comprehensive plan for the next quarter? Notice what just happened there. You've just shifted the conversation from writing to strategy, from execution to advisory work, and you've already positioned it as a separate engagement. Now, this approach serves multiple purposes. It helps the client get the clarity they need. That's super, super important. And both sides win in that situation. It also positions you a strategic partner rather than just a writer, and it creates a new revenue stream that properly values your strategic insight. If a client is hesitant about this approach, remind them gently that continually changing scope midstream impacts your production schedule, which affects how you serve all your clients. Professional writers need clear direction to deliver their best work. Don't give this strategic thinking away. And that's a really important point. You want to package it as a separate service, as a strategy session or content audit, messaging workshop or content roadmapping engagement, something that acknowledges the value, the true value of your insight and your expertise. The beauty of this approach is that it creates a virtuous cycle. So when you help clients get strategic clarity first, the actual writing becomes more focused and effective. Your deliverables achieve better results because they're part of a cohesive strategy rather than isolated pieces of content. And clients start seeing you as an indispensable partner in their success, not just another writer on their roster. Remember, your expertise isn't just about crafting compelling sentences. It's about seeing the bigger picture, taking the lead when necessary, and helping clients navigate their content challenges more effectively. And this is especially true in an AI driven marketplace like we're in right now. These opportunities are hiding in plain sight. I want you to, and I urge you to start looking for them. Your clients need the strategic guidance more than they realize, even if they don't know it yet.
