Hey there.
Welcome to another episode of the High Income Business Writing Podcast, the number one podcast for business writers and copywriters who want to earn more and less time doing work they love for better clients. With over 1 million downloads from listeners just like you across 101 countries, this episode is much shorter than usual. Rather than my typical 45 minute format. Today I'm sharing a quick tip with you. This is part of the audio insights I publish for my private coaching clients every weekday and I thought you'd find it helpful. So here we go. Hope you enjoy it.
I launched my professional career 30 years ago this year. And recently I was reflecting on the progress I had made over these four decades. The challenges I faced, the times I gave up, the moments when I pushed through despite doubt and fear. The moments when I didn't, when I let fear just take over. And I played small. And I realized that there were three rules that made my progress possible. Now, these aren't necessarily rules I defined or wrote down in my office wall, nothing like that. But now that I can connect the dots looking backward, they're really clear to me. Rule number one is that obstacles are opportunities in disguise. We've all heard this, right? Most of us, though, are really trained to focus on obstacles, to obsess over them, to let them stop us dead in our tracks. But here's what I've learned. Every obstacle carries within it the seed of an equal or greater opportunity. This is not just positive thinking. It's a practical truth that reveals itself when you refuse to back down. Rule number two, belief in your goal is more powerful than doubt. We're constantly told to be realistic, to knock, rock the boat, to play small, to dial back our ambitions. But here's the thing. Our perceptions shape our reality far more than we realize. We create our own reality. We really do. When we believe in the obstacle more than the goal. Guess which one wins every single time. It's the one we feed with our attention and belief. Personally, I think you have to be a little crazy, and I put that under quotations to generate above average results in life, to go out on your own, to create your own rules and standards, to chart your own course and live a much more creative life than the average person. And that's fine. A little crazy is something I can live with because that's what will keep you believing in those goals despite the doubt and fear. Despite the criticism. Rule number three Bold action beats overthinking every time. The answers you're looking for, they don't show up while you're playing it safe or analyzing everything to death. They emerge when you're in motion, when you're taking bold action despite your fears. That's when creativity kicks in. That's when unexpected solutions appear out of nowhere. There were other insights that came up from my reflections, but these rules and mantras really stood out for me. And these aren't just feel good mantras, they're battle tested principles that have proven themselves over and over in my life and business. Because at the end of the day, if you want something badly enough, conventional wisdom isn't going to get you there. Bold action will well, that's it for today.
