In this HomeZada video, Beth Dodson explains three distinct categories of home maintenance—preventative, safety‑related, and health‑related—detailing specific tasks for each, the benefits they provide, and how they contribute to lower energy and water costs, reduced fire risk, and a healthier indoor environment. She emphasizes the importance of regular upkeep such as cleaning refrigerator coils, HVAC checks, dryer‑vent cleaning, fireplace soot removal, air‑filter changes, and disinfecting high‑touch surfaces. Dodson then promotes HomeZada’s maintenance calendar, which lets homeowners track when tasks were completed, receive reminders for future work, and customize schedules for their families. The video concludes with a call‑to‑action to use HomeZada’s calendar via homezada.com for organized, stress‑free spring cleaning.

Hi everybody, Beth Dodson here with HomeZada. Today we want to talk about 3 different types of maintenance tasks and how they can benefit you. The 3 types we're going to be talking about are preventative maintenance, maintenance that affects your safety, and then maintenance that affects your health. Okay, so let's get started. When we refer to preventative maintenance, we look at these tasks as things that create efficiencies within your home which ultimately reduce your spend in your energy bills. These are things like cleaning the coils in your refrigerators, checking your HVAC units, and then flushing your hot water heater. Each one of these areas, when you perform these tasks, will create more efficient equipment and appliances. They'll be able to run this way, and then you will ultimately reduce your spend on your energy bills, potentially even your water bills. The second area where we want to talk about maintenance is for safety purposes. Now, these types of tasks avoid any damage to your home or your family, and these are very serious that we need to make sure we're taking care of. These are things like cleaning out a dryer vent, cleaning out the stove or fume hood that you have, that vent that you have up there, your filters, and then cleaning out your fireplaces if you have regular fireplaces to make sure you're removing all that soot. Because if you do not clean out these 3 areas, the grease and then the lint, as well as the soot in each one of these areas, could actually cause a lot of fire damage, not only to your homes, but it could affect your family. So we want to make sure that we're tackling these things. The 3rd area is all about making sure you're performing tasks for your health. You want to avoid an unhealthy environment and create a healthy environment inside your home. These are things like changing your air filters, cleaning your screens to your windows during the springtime, and then cleaning your light switches, your door handles, your phones, or your remote controls. And this will prevent germs from happening. So each one of these areas of tasks that you want to take on will have clean air inside your home to To avoid any asthma or other situations, and also avoid any germs coming into your home that could cause any illnesses. So each one of these areas— preventative maintenance tasks, safety-oriented maintenance tasks, and health-oriented maintenance tasks— will make sure that your home is operating the best way it can to support your dollars, your health, and your safety of your home and your family. You can track all of this information inside HomeZada if you need help tracking this. Now, by using HomeZada's maintenance calendar, not only can you track the information of when you did it last, but you can also get reminders of when you will need to do it next.
