Home Remodel Project Templates

Beth Dodson explains how HomeZada's project templates help homeowners avoid the common pitfalls that derail remodels: overlooked items like faucets and backsplashes, and unclear task workflows. The templates provide checklists tailored to DIY or contractor work, keeping projects on schedule and on budget.

Hi everyone, it's Beth Dodson here with HomeZada. I hope you're having a fabulous day. Thank you so much for joining us. I wanted to share with you today HomeZada's project templates and the value of them, but also how you can use them today. So one of the identifications we noticed when we talked to people who manage homes is that a lot of people don't come from a construction nor a project management background. And because of that, most projects become very frustrating. They get delayed or they're late. They go unfinished, or worse yet, they're over budget significantly. So what most people don't know is most projects in this country are over budget. So you're not alone, but there are ways to manage through that. And so when HomeZada built our projects module inside our HomeZada apps, we identified 2 scenarios that could make a difference. And those 2 scenarios are the number of items that you need to consider for a project and the actions or tasks you need to consider for that project as well. So let's talk about this. We decided as a company to add templates into the system that address both of these areas. The first area is the items. Most people can become easily over budget on their process and their projects because they do not understand all the items they need to consider. It's easy to walk into a kitchen or even a bathroom and see those big beautiful items that you want to replace, whether they're cabinetry, whether they're sinks, whether they're toilets, whether they're appliances, whether they're countertops, whatever the case, maybe even flooring. But a lot of people forget about faucets. They forget about garbage disposals for kitchens. They may forget about backsplash. They may forget about ventilation hoods. There's a lot of things that they may forget about that actually easily add up in significant money. And believe it or not, a lot of these items, they can be very low cost or they can be very high cost, depending, depending on your decision-making. And so they can easily put your budgets Out of whack and significantly over, and that could cause some problems. So we want to help avoid that. The second thing we recognize is actions or tasks that homeowners need to take in order to manage this project. If you don't have a construction or project management background, then how do you know how to move through the process? Hamzada's templates help you do that. We give you a choice when you start your project. On when you select a template, we give you a choice as to which process you're going to take. And what I mean by that is, are you going to do it yourself or are you going to use a contractor? And because we give you those 2 choices, there are slightly different tasks or actions that you need to take for those projects. And we give you those tasks that you need to consider, and then you can check off yes or no whether or not you've done it or not. It's really important that you follow certain tasks because if you don't, then you may have to go back and redo several others because something was a step out of place. And there is a process to construction. There is a process to how things can come and go. Sometimes that process can be modified very easily, but sometimes it cannot. So it's really important to understand what actions and tasks you need to take within your projects, and we want to help guide you with that. So with that said, if you are considering a project, I recommend you use HomeZada's project templates and you walk through the process of what you need. If you don't need those tasks or you do not need those items, you simply delete them. It's that simple. So I hope you found this tip extremely helpful. I hope you are having a fabulous time redesigning your house and coming up with new ways of looking at things.
