ELDOA mid back pain from sitting too long [GET RID OF PAIN FROM SITTING!]

Akim Aso shows why sitting rounds your thoracic spine and causes mid-back pain, then walks through an ELDOA exercise targeting T8-T9 vertebrae. The key is staying tall and lifting from your spine, not your hips, while stretching one arm at a time.

I'll talk about the different philosophies and techniques that you need know to work with your body the most efficiently. That way you'll function at your best. I'm Akim Aso and I've been in health and fitness field for 25 years and I've been using Aldoa along with the rest of my holistic program for 12 of those years. I've successfully helped hundreds of people get out of pain, improve their posture and generally improve their way of life. With our modern lifestyle, we have to sit at a desk. I myself am in the health and fitness field and I probably sit at his desk for about, I don't know, four hours a day. I've heard some clients tell me they're at their desk for upwards of 14, 15, 16 hours and this is causing a huge problem because people are in pain. We're stuck in this posture of either sitting or standing and it's causing our body to basically contract and become in pain. So there's a lot of different gimmicks and techniques you can use and they might give you some results, but you need something sustainable that you can do to correct the issues from sitting at a desk. So let's start with some basics on why you end up in pain from sitting too long. First and foremost is lack of movement. Your body needs to move to be healthy and to be pain free. But if you're stuck at a desk for X amount of hours per day, even if you stand up and come back down and sit, stand, you're still basically stagnant. You need to break at that monotony. But too often we're stuck doing work. So you can't just, you, you can't just leave and go for a quick workout. You're also educating your body to be in that position. Right? So if I'm sitting down too long, I'm not teaching my body to. I want to be like this so it becomes tight and this becomes tight. And my backgrounds, I teach my body that I want to stay in this position, I want to do a quick poll. If you feel like you sit too long at your desk, just give me a quick yes down in the comments below. So now that you understand that we need multitude of movements and we need to re educate our body, I want to talk about the actual posture of sitting. So when you're sitting, and we're going to take this for example of people who are trying to sit well with good posture, I don't want to go over the people who have these crazy positions to work on their laptop. So generally if you're trying to do it right, you're sitting tall, you're ergonomic, you're your hands on the keyboards and you look at the top third of your screen right here, but you're working on a computer in front of you. So no matter what you do, your head is going to start to slowly go forward because I'm trying to focus on what's going on there. When my head goes forward right there and now goes away from in between my shoulders to in front of my shoulders. It's called forward head posture. Now my head goes from sitting on a nice even plane that can distribute the force evenly to in front. And now all these muscles in back right here are trying to hold my head up and pull me up. Well, those muscles go all the way down to that mid back we're talking about. So if I'm constantly straining that that hurts. And as well, when the head is forward, it starts to round my back, right? And then when I round my back, I'm pushing all that behind me. I'm pinching my spine through here and I'm pushing all my spine there. That also hurts too. So we're going to go over. Now you can do right here in your office. You can see I basically just moved my chair out of the way. I sat down on the ground. That way you don't have to go into any special place. If you have a decent amount of privacy or you don't care what your coworkers think, you can pop down on the floor and do this. So this eldoa is called T8, T9 Eldoa. It's right in the middle of your back. Okay. And it's one of the main ones you want to do to help balance that mid back to have no pain. So I'm going to take you through a little quick warm up. I want you to sit, plant your feet down and be tall. I want you to kind of just push your upper back behind you and pull your upper back Forward, pull it back behind you and pull it forward. Pull it behind you and pull it forward. You're kind of just warming it up body wise, but also mentally, you try and connect to that mid back and move it. And now we come to center. Now I want you to get as tall as possible. Really lift. You want your head, your shoulders and your hips all lined up. You want to pull your head to the ceiling, pull your butt to the ground. You want to bring the left arm out. You want to go external rotation as external. The crease facing up, palm is open, and you want to reach forward out of your armpit. You want to be as tall as possible. And then if you can, you just have to bring the arm up slowly to the ceiling. Nice and lifting. You're going to push your arm out of your armpit. You get nice and tall. You're going to breathe and you're going to push. Let's go. 15 more seconds. Keep lifting, keep pushing. You want to make sure you're even on your sit bones. But the number one thing with Aldoas is be super tall. You bring the left hand down to your left knee, but you notice I stay tall in between. Then I bring my right arm out, external rotation, I push it forward, and I bring my right arm up slowly. Keep the hand in line with the shoulder. Don't let the hand go wide. I'm warming you up to the stretch. Sorry, those are exercises. I'm warming you up to the exercise. I'm doing a factor progression. I'm teaching my body to be super tall and to work with one arm at a time first. 10 more seconds, I think. Keep lifting, keep pushing. Bring your right hand onto your right knee again. I'm staying tall. Now, like I mentioned, those were factors of progression to teach my body one arm at a time. Because the true exercise, both arms out in external rotation, Push both arms forward. If you find this super difficult to do, you can stay here. And if you need to, you can bring your hands to your knees and stay tall. You want to practice lifting from your upper body, not pulling forward from your hips. Always thinking about pushing your butt down, pulling your chest out, point your head up. You push your arms away with external rotation. And for those who can, you can start to bring your arms up slowly to the ceiling. You get tall, you get tall. You get tall. Breathe and lift. You want to hold a True Eldoa stretch. One minute. So I think we have about 30 seconds left. If it's not totally one minute, because I have no clock. Don't hold it against me or if it's too longer, don't hold it against me. 15 seconds. Keep lifting the spine again. Check. Make sure you're not lifting pulling from the hips, you're lifting from the spine. Five seconds. When you come down, you come down slowly, put your hands on your knees and then you slowly come out of it. That's it. That one thing will help correct that sitting posture a lot. Now that you've got a better idea on why you're getting that mid back pain from sitting too long and you have an answer as to what to do, a good thing to do would be to practice the Aldo I just gave you. A better thing to do would be to go through a little mini ELDO class. It also incorporates other areas of your body that get affected from sitting too long. Good thing for you. We got a promotion going on so I set up a mini ELDOA class that's prerecorded that you can go through and you can use it for seven days as much as you want. I walk you through the warm up and all the way through the Eldoas and how to do them properly. In a link in the description below is where you can sign up.
