Akimba of Soulcore Fitness says get in shape before you run. Walking 10,000 steps puts five tons of load on your hips, and running adds more. If your body is imbalanced, that load will break it like a faulty bridge. Prepare with fascia work and stabilizer strengthening first.

Hey, how's it going? It's Akimba from soulcore Fitness again. And I've gotten the question of running. Now, I know that may be a curse word in some people's minds, but I want to let you know that you want to get in shape to run, not run to get in shape. Now, why? Okay, we're going to talk about walking first, and then I want you to imagine running. So if I'm about a hundred pounds and I do my 10,000 steps per day, I'm producing about 5 tons, 5 tons of load on my hips and through my body. If I run, it's going to be more depending on weight and stride length and all that stuff. So just imagine a lot more force through your body. So most people are desk jockeys, right? Or they're. They don't do a lot. They're not mobilized, so their body's imbalance. They don't have some abs, they don't have space in their body, and all of a sudden, they want to start running to get in shape or fast walking or hiking. Well, that's a lot of load through an imbalanced body. So imagine the Golden Gate Bridge, and it's all tilted off to the right, right? And now we want to load the Golden Gate Bridge with a lot of cars. Well, eventually, all the cars are going to fall off. The bridge is going to break. The same thing happens to your body. So you want to make sure that you balance your body first. You want to use techniques that balance the fascia lines of your body, strengthen these little tiny muscles in your body to hold it in place and to make it move well, to have a lot of space in your body so it can function freely. The best techniques I found are myofascial stretching, Eldoa, segmental strengthening, all the stuff that we do here at Socorro Fitness. But make sure your body is balanced before you go. Run, walk, or hike. Thank you. It.
