Inside ZALGIRIS | One of Europe's Toughest Stadiums

In this YouTube vlog, professional basketball player Elijah Bryant takes viewers behind the scenes of his EuroLeague matchup against Žalgiris Kaunas. He opens by noting his recent 21‑day injury layoff and his team’s four‑game losing streak, then highlights the passionate Lithuanian fan base and the NBA‑level facilities at Žalgiris Arena. Bryant documents his pre‑game routine, including weight‑room work, mobility drills, and extensive film study of Žalgiris’ key players (Francisco, Williams‑Goss, Moses Wright, Tubelis). He breaks down specific defensive and offensive mismatches observed in the footage, explaining how the team’s defensive switches and high‑post strategies operate. The vlog then transitions to live game commentary, showcasing several of Bryant’s plays—rebounds, a three‑pointer, a steal—while the arena’s atmosphere is described. Despite a loss that extends the team’s skid to five games, Bryant reflects on the adversity, emphasizing the importance of daily habits, aggression, and quick decision‑making in his recovery and performance. The video’s purpose is to give EuroLeague fans an authentic look at the challenges faced during a tough stretch, rather than just the glitz of professional basketball.

Pogo being performed in perfect synchronization here at the Jalguerio Arena. The mascot getting involved, all dancing to the tune of the drummer here. The competition is going to be white hot as well. What a magnificent spectacle.
In less than 48 hours, I'll be playing in one of the craziest arenas in Europe. It's been 21 days since I've been on the court, and my team has lost 4 games in a row. And specifically, we lost last time to this team.
Let's jump into it.
This is Antarctica.
It's like Woodbury, Minnesota.
Are you built for this?
Shout out Woodbury, Minnesota. We're not from there though.
Oh.
We're here in Kaunas, play Zalgiris in Lithuania. We haven't been playing that well, but this time we're gonna get back on track. And what better place to do it than the place that basketball is their number one sport? They love basketball here. Actually, in this video I go and do a side quest.
You're one of the few people who play professional basketball in Europe and also make content about it. And check out Elijah Bryant's YouTube channel, there's a lot of great content, a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff for, uh, EuroLeague fans who don't know exactly how those those game days look like.
And the people here, like I said, love basketball. It goes to show you that the sport is real here and the passion is real. Now considering the passion is real, the fans are real, the country supports basketball, the arena is an NBA-level arena in terms of, you know, weight room, in terms of the facilities. It probably even compares to Valencia. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. If you haven't seen the Valencia video, go and watch it because they had a crazy arena, like $400 million arena. One of the reasons why it's so enjoyable playing here is because the fans are super respectful, meaning like they cheer for the team, the Green White Boys, but they're not rude. They respect you as a player. They don't curse your mom, they don't curse your wife. So it's a respectful, energetic environment. Now when it comes to the team specifically, they've increased their budget. They've created a better team with Francisco, Williams-Goss, Moses Wright. So they're actually really good. They, they beat us last time in Israel, so we have our work cut out for us, but Before that, I'm going to go to the weight room, do my mobility stuff, get ready for practice later.
Let's get it. Sit right here next to that.
Daniel, right here.
What you doing? Sit here, J. There's nowhere else to sit here.
If you make it, you're my son. Oh, you make it, you're my son. All right, so wrapping up some recovery before the big game. You guys saw me do a little training today. Tomorrow we'll talk about, you know, the players they have, like Francisco, Goss, Wright, all these guys who are honestly the core of the team. But time to get some rest and get back on the right track tomorrow.
Sweet.
So this is one set and they all have another. I'll switch this set all the time. What's up, brother? Outside the NBA, huh?
How are you doing?
All right, so we're on the set right now. It's the side quest. Stay tuned. Now I'm gonna catch up on some film just from the last game, noticing like getting back into the flow of the game and just even watching some of the practices while I was out is you never realize how fast the game is and how good you are at making reads in a split second, you know. So my first game back against Jerusalem, the game we lost, everything was just a step fast, right? My reads were a little bit slow, but I was able to be mature about it and understand like it's gonna be a little bit of a process. In terms of getting some rhythm back. Then later in the game I got some rhythm. But let's hop into this film. They have a bunch of good players. I forgot to speak about Tubelis, who had a double-double against us. Very talented team here. When I'm watching, like, Francisco specifically, like, he's very right-hand dominant and has a crazy in-and-out to the right, borderline carry. But they do a good job of protecting each other on defense from switching. And then when they do get the mismatches flashing the guy quickly to the high post to avoid the help. But this isn't going to be an easy game, especially playing at their place. It's going to be a very good crowd, very good environment. This play is interesting because you watch the mismatch, right? You watch the mismatch here and transition. Francisco is against number one mismatch, and you can see how he's trying to get out, right? And Moses Wright wants to help. So he's in between of helping, but how you know what the coach wants him to do? There's two things the coach can be mad at here. One, foul, because look, I was to give. Two, where's the trap? So watch the coach's reaction. Give him out. So we're gonna be able to see who he's mad at the next dead ball, I'm assuming, right? Or too ballless. All right, I'm gonna finish watching film, get to this game, and go time, baby.
Hello everyone and a very warm welcome to Kaunas, where you join us on a snow-capped winter's evening at the magnificent Žalgiria Arena for this Round 28 encounter, as the visiting Kapoel IBI Tel Aviv look to get back on a winning track after losing 4 straight. So the opening tip is up and it is controlled by the visiting team. 4 upon it. Down a 2 with 5 points in the game for FS. Turnaround on the inside, off the mark. So corner 3-pointer from Ish Wainwright, long and off left. That's a magnificent offensive rebound to win the game on. Perfect shooting from inside the arc for him. Short corner J's off the mark and it's that man once again, Elijah Bryant, dropping down with the rebound. And there is the vision down the diminutive Sylvain Francisco. Double team comes from Slava— excuse me, from Eganas Ulanovas. Oh, more optimally placed than I say that he misses this secure position. 3-pointer drilled from Elijah Bryant. The dribble, Nigel Williams-Goss defending. He went straight through the outstretched arms of Eganas Ulanovas. Oh, that is a tough 3-pointer. My goodness. of his own. Deflected. Elijah Bryant, what a steal! The tiptoe teases down the sideline to remain inbound.
Bryant keeps it himself. Oh, terrific work from Elijah Bryant!
Elijah Bryant down the lane, and the final buzzer, barely audible here. Such is the din.
Well, unfortunately we didn't get the win, and that's 5 straight losses in a row. This is why you guys are here, not for all the glitz and glamour. It's to see what actually happens behind the scenes during the adversity, during the hard times, because that's when you're truly tested. Anyone can have great systems, great routines when everything's going well, but what do you do when it's going bad? And for me personally, you know, coming back, playing that game, just to be out there to try to help my team win— am I 100%? No, but who is 100% at this time during the year? And as a team, there's a lot of stuff we can get better at. But for me personally, it's about continuing to focus on my systems that got me to where I am and understand that everything's not going to be perfect. You're not going to stay number 1 the whole season. You're not going to feel healthy the whole season. But what are you doing every single day to put yourself in the best position to feel 100%, to be number 1? And if you're doing that without emotion, then you can tip your hat on that. Now when it comes to the game specifically, two things I did well, one thing I could work on. I think I rebounded the ball well, especially in the first half. I think I could be better at making quicker decisions. Come back from an injury, everything's just moving super fast. Another thing I did well is just stay aggressive. They were the better team that night, but as always, you know the drill— faith plus consistency.
Love.
