Emily McDonald explains how smell connects directly to your limbic system and can strengthen manifestation. Pair a scent with visualizations to boost neuroplasticity, with affirmations to wire new beliefs, or use it as a cue to shift into a specific mood or identity.
Neuroscience fun fact of the day is that you can boost your ability to manifest what you want through your sense of smell. And I'll tell you how so our sense of smell is actually the only sense that does not get filtered by the brain. When we smell something, it goes directly to our limbic system, which is involved in memory, emotion, and behavior. This is why smelling a particular scent can immediately give you nostalgic feelings of an old memory. I'll give you three ways you can use this to your advantage. The first is to pair scent with your visualizations, because scent boosts neuroplasticity, so it will help your brain wire in whatever you're visualizing. My second tip would be to pair scent with with affirmations, because like I said, it'll help your brain wire in these new beliefs. And my third tip would be to use scent to shift your identity or shift character modes. Because scent can go straight to your brain, it has the amazing ability to completely shift your mind. So pick a scent, assign a label to that scent, spray it on yourself, and then watch how your mood and behavior can shift. You can do this for whatever you want. You can use it to boost confidence, you can use it to boost productivity and focus.
