Rushing floods your body with cortisol and adrenaline, tanking executive function, focus, and working memory. You shift from creative to reactive, lose touch with intuition, and damage your mental health. Schedule downtime and build a calm morning routine instead.
This is a neuroscience behind why you should never rush and why I personally allow myself to be late when we are constantly in a hurry. Our bodies are being flooded with stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. So being in a rush increases stress and anxiety. And there are other risks to rushing as well. Rushing is associated with poor mental health and negative emotions. It's also linked to feeling a lack of control over your life. Which makes sense because rushing has been shown to decrease executive functioning. It reduces self control, focus, working memory and flexible thinking. Which leads me to my third point that rushing puts you in a state of reaction rather than being in creation. You are less able to connect to your intuition and live with a sense of purpose. So moral of the story is to schedule your downtime and please do not start your day in a rush. Have some sort of morning routine and gift yourself the gift of presence because being present is one of the most genuine ways to show yourself and others love.
