Empathology is the study of empathy. It is the science of learning how to listen and speak from the heart instead of the head, and how to bridge the gap between judgment and criticism to connection and compassion. When we listen with our hearts, we're able to empathize with what's alive inside the other person and connect to their needs and their emotions. In a non-judgmental, human way that hopefully reduces conflict and nurtures connection. And there are lots of ways to approach empathology. It's all about learning to strengthen a new muscle and begin to see things through a different filter, one of kindness and compassion and understanding, a shared humanity about how we all share common needs and that it's our birthright to get them met and And when we remember that, it helps us lean in from a place of giving rather than a place of judging. And from there, magic happens. That's the tip of the iceberg when it comes to empathology. And there are lots of ways to navigate different scenarios and the different paths to get there. But ultimately, it helps us depersonalize and neutralize language and behavior, which brings us back to our culture of connection and giving and support. Supporting one another, which hopefully makes the world a better place.
