hosting an event using an ai social network

Eunice Lai used an AI social network called Series to plan a networking event for 100 entrepreneurs in one week. The event at Antler scaled to 428 signups, with Series making warm introductions to find a DJ, event planner, photographer, and volunteers. The vlog documents the setup, execution, and what worked.

What happens when you use AI to plan an event? I tapped into an AI social network not just to find help, but to find the right people for the job. This isn't just event planning. This is the future of networking. I just joined a startup called Series and it's an AI social network that unlocks second to third degree connections through warm introductions. And I was given a challenge to plan a full scale event for 100 entrepreneurs. And I was only given one week to do so. No team, minimal budgets, just one venue and one tool. The Ceres AI social network. This is what I'm doing. Treating this like a real world experiment. Can I plan a high quality, unforgettable experience only using the tools inside this one network? And also, how better to learn about your product than to be a user of it? Okay, wait, I just sent a photo and it made me my profile. I. Okay, this is me. It just collected everything I said about myself, which is sick. And it said that they're gonna hit up Abby, an AI friend that might know someone. Okay, interesting. I really wonder if they can find a DJ that feels a little bit obscure, but this is what I'm testing this for. So. Okay. Good morning. I just woke up and first thing I did was check my phone and it looks like my AI friend connected me with Hallie. See? Giving me connection overnight. Let's open her profile. Okay, wait, it says she's a tech entrepreneur in New York that knows professional musicians. That's actually perfect. Okay, I'm gonna ask to connect and. Wow. Okay, I have my first person already. Maybe. Okay, here's what it looks like. Click on her. Yeah, that looks perfect. Okay, I have to text connect. They just sent me the Instagram of their friend who is a dj. I checked this stuff out and it's actually pretty good. I think I found my DJ and it only took one try.
Yeah, what's up?
So I was wondering if you are free this Friday night around 7:30 to 9:30 to DJ for an event I'm hosting?
Yeah, no, I would love to.
That's awesome. Thank you. You're saving my life right now. Yeah. Oh my God. Thank God. I don't know. I don't know what I would have done if he didn't say yes. I don't know. Music is everything, so. Okay. That's the one thing off my bucket list. Thank. Last night I connected with an event planner to kind of ideate ideas or how to make it better. He suggested making a photo booth props. So I had an idea of making a whiteboard conversation thing so people who get their matches can write their names on it. And I'm currently in my school's fab lab trying to figure out how to use this laser cutter, because I've never used one before. The two things you want to check is that that's why I called you. So I was like, oh, hi, my name is Foy, and we are helping series. I was supposed to grab dinner with the rest of the team and with some other founders, but my flight was just delayed for the second time. It was supposed to be at 6, and now it's at 8. It's 11:22. I'm gonna immediately go to bed when I get home. It's gonna be a long day tomorrow, and there's still so much more to plan, so now we're starting to expand. I know what spot you occupy. Yeah. Wait, say hi to the vlog. This is the team. Yeah. Hi. How's this event going for you? I think it's going great. You know, came here, like, the first time that they had it. I feel like not everyone understands it because I walk into a room and start vlogging. Most people find it weird, but I love that you join me. No, like, as long as you're comfortable doing it, like, that's what matters. Like, I used to grow up, like, being, like, oh, my gosh, like, taking my own vlogs on my phones. I love capturing moments. But you do it so professionally, and that's special. But thank you for joining this little segment. Okay. But, yes, I just left the conference for a little bit. We are having a really good issue, so we initially thought we were only gonna have, like, 50 people, but now we have 428 people signed up, so everything has to be scaled up so much. I'm trying to deal with the catering right now, but it was really cool using series because I was in there listening to the keynote speakers. I really don't want to be scrolling LinkedIn on that because that's really unprofessional. So I got to text my AI friend. I was texting them, like, look for this person for me, and it was responding really well. I most. But, yeah, it's just like. And then I'm just, like, swiping between my contacts, asking my friend, asking my AI friend, and it just feels really, really, really efficient. Right now I'm also looking for a photographer, but I might do it myself because I feel like we're still a startup, We're a small team. We want to be personal, so we'll like, personally go up to people. It gives me a good opportunity to, like, introduce myself and then, like, ask for a photo. And they can use the little photo booth stuff I use. But, yeah, there's only four hours to the event. It's a lot. There's a lot to do. We're heading over to the venue right now. This is my first time seeing it, so I don't even know if it can fit 400 people. I'm pretty sure it can't fit 400 people. But that's a problem for later because we have no decorations up yet, and there's two hours to go. So let me get it. This is going to be the venue for today, tonight. And our DJ is already here setting up.
What's up?
Hi. Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
Yeah, I can't, like, set my camera down, but here. Thanks for helping out.
Of course, of course. What do you think?
I do like the setup. Wait. It looks good. It looks good.
Awesome. Yeah, it's not too much, not too little.
This is so crazy. We only expected 50 people. Hi. How long is the wait for the line to know? I'm not sure how long the wait is. I'm just down here, like, filming some video. Okay, thank you. Anyways, the line is so long that people are asking me, like, how long the line is. And it's like, people thought it was a club, so random people started lining up and asking. But this turnout is crazy. Oh, my God. Yeah. We have the one and only Daniel Mintz here. Yup. What's up, guys? I'm here. What do you think of this growth marketing strategy expert? Wait, this is. This is great. We were. We're hosting an event, too, at some point. Please.
Who can build can see that. Anyone who looks like anyone can do that. And getting featured through Forbes, through Insider, through all these different news publications, that's going to showcase exactly what that dream is. Since our moat is serendipity, people meeting in random places, as some of you did today, we want to ask for five volunteers. Yellow. Three yellows.
Can you take a picture?
All right, so, you guys, he doesn't know he's an app store. That's, like, not what we do.
So what color are you? Yellow. Oh, yeah.
I mean, I took a screenshot.
Can we see the screenshot?
Let's see.
Okay. You're not lying. Good job. High five. Yes.
I did the homework.
You did the homework.
Your AI friend, as we like to call it, will tell you who you need to meet. And the best part about this is that person wants to meet you as well. So it's mutual. You guys very randomly all got yellow. That means you're optimistic, apparently. Are you optimistic?
I am. Everyone knows that.
Are you optimistic?
Yes. I love everyone that I see. Totally.
All right, well, it's not what it will be in 10 years. We'll get a lot more advanced. But say your name. So my name is Meghashanuli.
I'm an artist and I got teal because the app thinks I'm very creative.
Which makes sense because I make music. So. And creative, those are opposites, but maybe through your disagreeability.
So I'm filming this reflection retrospectively. It's been two weeks since the event, and I would say it's a major success. Everyone has been talking about us. Everyone knew that we threw a sick party at Antler. Everyone, we're on the tip of everyone's tongues. And now that we're on the college tour, people have seen those videos on LinkedIn, so they know who we are and they know what we're here for. And it's awesome. And I. I'm a really big believer of in person activations because although yes, we are an AI social network, the end goal is still to create human connections. And that's exactly what we did at that event. And I'm just really looking forward to throwing many mixers and just ways for people to connect over the summer. That's what I'm most excited for. And I have a lot to learn from this. I stressed out a little bit too much. I don't think not. I'm not saying that I shouldn't be stressed, but I think I need to trust the process a little bit more. But I know with the bigger events that we have coming up, there will actually be a lot more work and I definitely need more handsome deck. But this was, I think, one of the coolest experiences I've had so far, and I'm so excited for more. So stay tuned. Bye.
