A lot more sharing from our regular trip. We're kind of matching. Welcome to the yearly live family trip. Although I'm not sure how yearly it can be now, but today we're doing it simple. We are just going driving up.
It's going to be fun. Hopefully. I love Malaysian food. It's the best thing.
Look how windy this highway is, Baby. Durian. O wait, it looks like it's going to fall off already. You might not want to stand here.
90 days. 90 days is usually about 120 days.
How would you describe the taste of a durian?
Like creamy.
It's creamy. Oh, tangy is not the right word. It's a little bit bitter. They'll get your durian. They'll get your durian. On there. Black. Oh, yeah.
Hold on for the black. And two at the back of the car. Everywhere now is money. All these, Every one of these are money.
Understood. Money. It's been an hour and people are still burping.
Yeah, it's, it's, it's bad. It's like toxic. It's okay.
Okay. Well, you guys couldn't taste the taste. Durian's. He also cannot smell the smell of durian. Burps.
We have four and a half hours.
We're stuck in traffic again. Apparently there's another car crash.
Five more minutes of traffic. Look at that. It's pretty bad.
That's pretty bad. Okay, let's sing some songs.
Got a house on the back road I got a flag on the front Por statue my hometown When I got home Nobody gonna name their babies after me. I might not go down in here but I'll go down to the honky talk. I go down to the honky.
Duck. Now, chicken, they use like fish sauce. Chicken, like very light noodles. The review is correct. It's missing the oomph. It's missing the wok hay, which is like the pot fire. It doesn't have the bird's bits. You know, the bird's taste. The walk. Hey. We got back pretty late last night, so. So we were stuck in the infamous Malaysia traffic for around three hours. And we arrived here at our Airbnb around 10:30pm and my dad and I played a few rounds of Clash Royale and we all knocked out after. But we do have a long day of eating and just sightseeing to do. I'm actually really glad it looks sunny outside because when I looked at the weather forecast, it was 95% rain. But we might actually be able to walk around today. Oh, my God. This is my A Little bit of my fault for arranging a trip like this during monsoon season, but it seems like the weather is on our side. Our Airbnb is amazing. It's in the heart of Georgetown, which is the main area of Penang. And it's built into one of the heritage buildings. So you can see that the style of the furniture and just the wall and the floors, they follow the old British, Malaysian kind of style. I'll show you guys around. Oh, my God. So here's the main kitchen area. It's beautiful. And it has a little loft moment going on. And we have a living room here. And I don't actually think we can go upstairs because people are still sleeping, but we'll see it later. For some reason, Oliver was really craving cake at 9 in the morning. What's wrong with cake? It's 9 in the morning and can.
Our man not eat cake?
How's it?
That's pretty good cake ethic.
This is a weird combo. He's right here. Oh, my God. And I don't want to pay to go inside, but they literally have dashes and reptiles inside. They're kind of matching. I want to buy everything. Looks great. Pretty good if you think about it. Chocolate DL is the original surf and turf.
I don't know what surf and turf is like.
I like seafood and land food in one dish. Outfit. Transformation. So this is from Nala, our favorite Malaysian brand, but it's actually by a Dutch woman. Yay.
That's like those like 30 second intermission tracks.
It is the next morning. Everyone is still getting ready to pack up and. Ah, Mosquito. It wet in my eye. Holy. I caught it. I caught it. This was a short one. It was a very fruitful one. I think there was a lot more sharing in than usual from our regular trips because usually our troops are very adventure packed, but this was more of a snow, slow burn, food journey type trip. And I think it's also at a very interesting time because both my brother and I are going through bigger changes in life, so there is actually more to talk about. But I think the worst part about growing up in general is the lack of time or just losing time that you get to spend with your family. Like, this might be really corny and performative to say, but this is the one thing I will look back on because as time goes on, you get less of it and it's. You just can't really get it back or at least when you do finally do, it's gonna be different because, you know, your parents older and you probably have like your own life, too. But anyways, this was a good, short, short trip. We're gonna go out for one last meal in padang before we start the long drive down. People are getting ready, so let's stalk them. Hello, hello, hello.
That's good. You literally just bit into.
The last piece of the puzzle for our little food trip is the fried oyster egg omelette. What does the oyster taste like? Oyster. Oyster is really creamy. Creamy. Yeah.
Here's basically a mixed fruit platter. It's a roja, means mango, pineapple, cucumber, a couple other different root fruits. And it mixed with prawn. Prawn paste, sesame seeds.
This is cendol.
I think cendol is better than ice Kachang.
I love, like, coconut flavors.
