slow days in a fast city

Eunice Lai returns to Hong Kong for three weeks, capturing ferry rides to Peng Chau, family dinners, and the nightly Symphony of Light. She films everyday moments: shopping in Causeway Bay, lining up for food, sunset photography, and a Christmas Eve dinner with homemade cranberry sauce and cornbread.

They say distance makes the heart grow fonder. And this feeling stands true for my home. A place that was once a monotonous routine between home and school became a vibrant city with so many hidden gems I yet to uncover. And in my short three weeks back, I tried to spend as much time as I can with the people I hold dearest and take in as much of my beautiful city as I can.
When I think about the way we used to be When I think about the things it took for me. I know that I am so much better. Better When I look at what I've.
Hello. So we are on the boat to go the Peng ch. It's around 45 minutes. It's. The sea's not too rocky so I think it's doable. This is my mom. Hello. Hi.
Yeah.
Little family trip.
Cuz darling There is nothing right but all you seem to do is lie those days are gone I walk and talk while you're alone When I think about the way you used to be When I think about the things.
We're only 95 meters above sea level.
Here. I have a really home styled cmi. It's not in your classic yellow wrapper. It honestly just doesn't look. I thought it was a meatball but it doesn't taste like a Siu Mai because I think it's like actual meat instead of whatever rubber. So we just got back from Pingdou and I just got changed and now I'm going to K11 Mall. I think I'm gon take the ferry there cuz now is the perfect time for it. It's sunset and it's going to be really beautiful. You'll see.
I feel like such a tourist taking so many photos and videos off the skyline. But just every time I come back I'm so amazed by how beautiful Hong Kong is and I. I don't know.
Being in.
Being in a more suburban type city really makes me miss the hustle and bustle of the national city. And wow. Like did you know Hong Kong has the most icebreakers in the world? And it's so beautiful.
Like.
Like I'm too distracted looking at it to even make this commentary or I hope so.
So my parents came over to watch this symphony of light. It happens every day at 8pm I think it's not that impressive but it's always really cool to revisit.
I would. I would make it like a raw pot running from one side to the other.
A robot buildings.
A robot with the lights running light things. Those are swimming.
So I just Finished lunch and now I'm in cause bay doing some Christmas shopping. I even dressed for it with a green bag, red shirt, very Christmas, very on theme. I hope to find some cool stuff. I don't think I'm the best shopper. Sorry, it might be a little bit loud, but I'm not the best shopper. But I think there's just so many cool stores. And hopefully I hit jackpot and I find something cool for everyone. So one thing about Hong Kong culture that I find really funny is that people love to line up for things. I used to make fun of them, but now that I have a lot of free time to kill, I've joined them. I'm currently lining up for truffle bakery. The line is relatively short because I think they sold out most of their things. They only have like one thing left. But I refuse to line up any longer for anything else. You can taste like the trust. The truffle song. Maybe.
It.
Right now we're eating traditional Hong Kong breakfast. It's kind of breakfast, but we're having it for lunch. Well, it feels like breakfast food because it's tomato and macaroni. The workers here are really mean. But that's the. That's the taste of Hong Kong. Oh, that's the taste of Hong Kong. That's the taste of Hong Kong. If they don't yell at you for blocking their way, you didn't go to a local restaurant. We're now at Fah Hui in Mong Kok buying flowers for our Christmas party. A lot of the Christmas stuffs are on discount already, so we came at a good time. It's two days before Christmas. I think most people done their shopping. We're here to pick up the slacks. It is December 24th. Busy day for us because miracle is staying our Christmas dinner. This is his outfit for for today. And he's gonna take the turkey out. Let's check it out.
Well, I'm all for Chris North. All the happy smiles and the wishes and I want it all from the.
The cornbread is coming out now. Look at that golden brown color.
Wow.
Unskill it. Let's move it over.
Blind test just to look out.
Ch. Why is she doing that?
Why is she not facing you?
Take them out.
Oh, definitely, definitely. The second one is the.
The second one. Mark and Spencer.
I think second one's the city super one.
Yeah, me too.
The second one is the Marks and Spencer one.
Nope.
Second one is a city super.
Yeah. That you're missing. I will keep you warm as soon as you move that smell. Whatever we do, we would be all right.
So here I have my homemade cranberry sauce. It's not too sweet because I put less sugar.
Perfect wishes tonight come true.
This Christmas I only wanna be close to.
This is our first Christmas dinner. Yeah, I think this is wonderful plate. We got some burrata, some potato things. Potato.
Sweet.
Sweet potato. Yeah.
Okay, Moment of truth.
It's very nice. Wow.
Very raw. Do you think so that the beef was too long and I was too long?
