In this YouTube video, the presenter argues that small‑business marketing doesn’t require massive ad spend or viral campaigns; it only needs three low‑cost, high‑impact principles: consistency, authenticity, and generosity. For consistency, the speaker stresses the importance of staying top‑of‑mind through a regular content schedule, adapting to the platforms where the audience lives, and avoiding erratic posting bursts. Authenticity is framed as sharing real, personal stories and speaking in a human, conversational tone, with examples like a café owner who posts coffee‑chat videos about local hikes. Generosity involves giving away knowledge—blog posts, webinars, tips, collaborations—so the audience perceives the business as an expert and builds loyalty. The speaker illustrates each principle with personal LinkedIn growth numbers and anecdotal cases, then recaps the three steps and offers a plug for FirestarterMarketing.ai as a resource for implementing the approach.

Marketing is complicated. At least that's what most people think. But today I'm here to tell you that it's actually much simpler than you realize. If you're a small business owner and you, you don't need a massive ad budget and a viral campaign to succeed. What you do need are 3 simple and powerful principles: consistency, authenticity, and generosity. These 3 things are the key to making marketing work for your business, and they don't cost a dime. Let's talk consistency. Think about your favorite brands. You probably see them all the time, right? That's not a mistake because the moment they stop showing up, someone else takes their place. So they're constantly in front of you in social media, in your email, in your ad strategy, and things like that. As small business owners, we don't have to have a million-dollar budgets, but we can be consistent. This helps you stay top of mind with your customers and your prospects. The people often see you, the more they trust you. Building credibility over time, because with information out there on a regular basis, will take will create an audience for you that will follow you. And eventually they'll start to work with you and seek you out for the information. So how do you do that? Number 1, you gotta plan your content. You need a plan. We also have another video that we'll be doing shortly that tells you how to create a plan. But whether it's a simple Google Sheet or a full campaign calendar, Make sure you stick to your posting schedule. Avoid that all-or-nothing trap. Don't post 20 times in a week and then disappear. Spread it out. Adapt, but stay steady. If your audience is on Instagram more than Facebook, adjust, but don't go silent. Do, do, do. So I started posting not too long ago on LinkedIn. And at first it felt like I was just shouting into the void. But then the engagement started to climb and then my audience started to climb. And within about 3 months, I had close to 3,000 followers and now I reach over 10,000 views per week on LinkedIn. All right, let's talk about authenticity. So people can tell when marketing is fake. You know that when you're getting that radio voice or that click here or new and improved. That's all marketing language, and there is some psychology behind it, but they don't really resonate with you. They're soulless, and it's not what your customers want. What they want is actually real stories from real people with real connections. This helps you be genuine within your environment. It helps you build that trust. It cuts through the noise so people can can really get to where you're trying to get to. So, how do you do— or think about your favorite brands, brands like Patagonia, Ben Jerry's. Those are the ones that you keep coming back to and you constantly hear from, right? They're transparent and they resonate and they put themselves out there within your environment. So, how do you do this? Well, try sharing your backstory. You are your business, especially as a solo entrepreneur. So tell them how you got into it and why did you do this and why you have passion for what you do and share that information. Be conversational, speak like a human. Don't try and match marketing language, just be yourself. And also highlight what's cool, whether you like what you love, whether you like coffee, hiking, sports, Be yourself within that type of environment. There's a cafe owner that I know who started publishing coffee chats on Instagram talking about the best hiking spots in the area while sipping his favorite roast. People loved it because he, he was authentic and not giving a sales pitch. Well, people will come in and ask for those roasts on that specific hike that they did within that environment. All right, finally, generosity. Most people hesitate here because if I give away what I know, aren't they going to just do it on their own? That's actually not true. The opposite happens. When you're generous, people see you as the expert and they trust you more. It positions you as the go-to expert in your space. And believe it or not, it builds loyalty with not just customers, but also prospects. And the businesses that help them. It creates community around your brand and around who you are within that environment, and it will turn into real opportunity for you as you keep, as you keep up that path, right? So how do you do this? Well, create educational content like this. Blog posts, webinars, social media tips. Everything's going to help as you put that stuff out there. Offer unexpected value to those clients and collaborate with others. Bring others into the conversation, other experts, and, and take that forward. This was my corporate marketing go-to. I taught my teams over and over, we create value first for our clients, and then they will come and to come and work with us. That often led to us setting records with the types of, of work that we would do in webinars or anything that we were out— anything that we were doing out there. But this actually works if you're consistent and authentic as you do it. All right, so how do we do this? Pulling this all together, recapping: be consistent, show up, Make a plan, stick to the plan. Be authentic, be yourself. You know, you are your brand, especially as a solo entrepreneur in a small business. And be generous with your knowledge, share it freely. These things aren't just strategies, they're a mindset. And when you make them part of your marketing DNA, your business will grow because people trust businesses that feel familiar, human, and helpful.
