In this introductory video, Frances Pratt, owner of the sales consultancy Kiss to Sell, greets the audience of Glenelg Shire business owners and outlines an upcoming end‑of‑November workshop hosted in partnership with Glenelg Shire Council. She explains her expertise in sales, buying psychology, and why people make purchasing decisions. Frances invites local entrepreneurs to bring their own business experiences—what they have tried, what they haven’t, and what they are considering—so that together they can blend that knowledge with her sales insights. The goal is to co‑create formulas, actions, and experiments that encourage residents to buy locally rather than travel elsewhere. She emphasizes openness to new ideas, responsibility to experiment, and expresses enthusiasm for a productive, idea‑rich session.

Hello to all the people in Portland. How are you? I just wanted to introduce myself. My name's Frances Pratt and I own a business called Kiss to Sell, and my specialty and expertise is around helping business owners really understand sales and selling, and really importantly, how people buy and why they buy, and you know, what's all the psychology and thinking around that. Now, I've been working really hard with the team at Glenelg Shire Council, and I'm so excited to be coming to visit you because I know that you guys really want to support an action and think about some things and ways to get people buying locally and not travelling away. So that's what we're going to focus on. So what I need from you when you come along is your expertise in your business, all the things that you've tried and haven't tried and thought about and haven't thought about. And then I want to mix that with my expertise, which is around sales and selling and buying psychology. So I think if we can combine those 2 things, all the things that you know about your business and all the things that I know about sales and selling and helping people buy, that we can come up with some formulas, some actions, and some ideas that are really going to help people buy locally. So I kind of think it's our responsibility to try some new things and to, you know, be open to some new ideas and then, you know, experiment nicely on our locals and see if we can encourage them to buy locally and, you know, what that might look like. So really excited to see you all at the end of November. And I know we're going to have a fantastic session and get some really, really meaty nuggets out of it and actions that we can apply in the local area. So see you then.
