This is a YouTube video titled "Great Leaders Don't Talk!" containing a discussion between two speakers about leadership communication, emphasizing the importance of leaders encouraging open and difficult conversations with their team members. The content was created in June 2025.
What do you feel most leaders in companies are getting wrong about communication with their team members?
What I like to say is good leaders respond to communication. Great leaders leave room for it. Meaning you want to encourage the difficult conversation. I'll say, tell me what I'm doing wrong, saying I'm not always right. But it also sometimes invites the deeper discussion of well, if I were you, I would think about X, Y and Z, and they're offering a position or a standpoint that I wouldn't have thought about had I not asked that question. You never want to be a position as a leader where they don't feel comfortable telling you either what they think you're doing wrong or things that you could do to make it better or to do. Hide advice. Hide bad news from you. You always want to be a safe place for them.
