Most traders start by using trading to cover immediate bills, then shift to longer-term wealth building once they have other income sources. The speaker describes his own transition away from needing daily profits from trading once money came in elsewhere.
Initially, trading is going to be to fix your cash flow problem, right? When you are starting to trade, you are trying to solve a problem of income. You haven't got enough income, you haven't got enough cash flow coming in to live the life you want to live. You're going to get to a stage in your trading where it's going to stop being a cash flowing business and start being a business that you're going to be using to grow your wealth. You're going to be trading in a slightly different way and it's going to be a longer term perspective. So by that time, my trading had really sort of transitioned into that sort of phase, or I was able to transition it into that phase because I had money coming in from elsewhere. I didn't have to just worry about making money from my trading.
