Short YouTube video by George Kao advising viewers to resist the habitual urge to check technology (social media, email, Twitter) by taking a mindful breath and reconnecting with an "eternal source of support" (e.g., God, Mother Earth, higher self). Kao frames technology as intentionally habit-forming and presents breathing, brief prayer, or mindful reconnection as a practical alternative to weaken that addiction over time.

Technology is making us addicted to checking technology all throughout the day. The next time you feel tempted to check your technology, your social media, your email, your Twitter, I invite you to take a breath first and reconnect with your eternal source of support, whatever that means for you. Reconnect with mindfulness with a breath. And then if you pray, say a quick prayer, reconnect with God or reconnect with Mother Earth, Reconnect with your higher self. Reconnect with your eternal source of support with a breath instead of checking technology. And each time you do this, you strengthen that connection with your eternal source of support and weaken the temptation and the addiction to check technology. Because technology has been designed to get us addicted to checking technology again and again throughout the whole day. So next time you feel tempted by it, take a breath. Instead of checking the Facebook, instead of looking for the new email, instead of checking Twitter or whatever it is, your technology choice is to fill that temporary hole inside yourself instead of checking technology, to resolve that temporary frustration or sadness that you may feel for whatever reason, it may be just another mood. Take a breath and then reconnect with your eternal source of support.
