Hal Elrod talks with a guest about overcoming limiting beliefs through a five-step process: name the belief, understand what it means to you, list what it costs you, list what you gain by dropping it, and tie those gains to basic needs like safety and freedom to strengthen your motivation.

If someone's listening to this and they're like, I know that I have limiting beliefs and insecurities and fears, and maybe they know why. How do you amplify the emotion on the positive side to heal faster?
So the first thing is, like, what are you trying to heal or affect? So if somebody's like, I want to heal that, I always feel criticized by others. I'm really sensitive to criticism. Okay, good. Well, what are you making criticism mean about you? Or what are you afraid happens when you get criticized? Oh, I make it mean I'm not good enough. Oh, I make it mean I'm unlovable. Oh, I make it mean I'm always going to be abandoned by everybody. Then step two, and this is actually another reprogramming tool, is we want to look at, like, what are all of the costs of holding onto that belief? And we want to start by looking at, like, five or ten costs. What does it cost me to keep this belief alive, to hold onto it, to keep projecting it onto things? Okay, good. What are the benefits of letting it go? If we perceive that this goal, this healing or starting the business, whatever that thing is that we're trying to create, if we perceive that it's going to get us more safety, protection, freedom, abundance, things that we're, like, fundamentally wired for at a reptilian brain space, and we can link that, that's when we also start supercharging. We feel inspired and motivated and we want to take action. So that's how we would really get to the other side there. If we're feeling stuck.
