This YouTube interview (hosted by Hal Elrod) features Joseph Sheehey discussing cannabis (CBD and THC) and efforts to shift public perception. In the provided excerpt, Sheehey states Cured's mission: to change how one million people think about cannabis; the conversation centers on stigma, its origins, and reframing perspectives toward more empowering, responsible use.
So I would love to hear you address, you know, what is this stigma that people have? Why do they have it? And what, what's a, maybe a better or more empowering perspective to take?
We at Cured, we say internally, we say our mission is to change how 1 million people think about cannabis. That's, that's what we want to do.
But, but.
We are a product of stories. We're a product of narrative. And where the narrative around cannabis and marijuana really started was back in the early 1900s. And that was when the propaganda machine really started to have a narrative around hemp specifically. But hemp and marijuana and cannabis all got lumped in together. I envision a future where more people are turning to cannabis. The narratives change. We're not living in the Cheech and Chong DARE program world. And it's actually, hey, we can be highly respectful, responsible experts, well revered in many aspects, trustworthy and be cannabis users as well.
