THE MIRACLE MORNING: Jesse Watters interviews author of the book that changed his life, Hal Elrod

Jesse Watters talks to Hal Elrod about The Miracle Morning. Elrod says the wake time matters less than how you start your day: optimizing your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual state. Most people begin with five days a week.

Once in a while, you read a book that changes your life. I'm not talking about romance novels, ladies. I'm talking about a real self help book. Something that actually changes how you live the rest of your life. Happened to me a couple years ago. I cracked open the Miracle Morning. Every morning is now a miracle. This book will instruct you on how to develop a morning routine that'll set your day in motion and then set your whole life in motion so that you become unstoppable like me. Let's bring in Hal Elrod, the author of the Miracle Morning. All right, Hal, this is my miracle morning. 5:45, wake up first thing, guzzle water, second thing, go get sunlight on my face. Maybe stretch, walk, run, cold shower, write, read. And then it's 8 o' clock and I've already beaten everybody to the punch, right?
That's it. Jesse, you are a living miracle, buddy.
Why is waking up so early in the morning and getting everything done the key to success?
I'll say this, waking up so early is actually not the important part. It's just how you start your day. And the reason it's so important is how you start your day sets the tone, it sets the direction, and it sets your mindset for the rest of the day. So if you win the morning the way that you do, you set yourself up to win the day. And if you wake up like at 5:45 or you just wake up 30 minutes earlier, it's those first few minutes of the day that set the rest of the day in motion.
What are the keys in the morning when everybody else is and you're out there hustling, what are the things we should be doing before everybody else is up?
I think the most important thing is to optimize your mental and emotional state. If I had to pick one, that would be it. And to me, the Miracle Morning enables you to start every day in a peak mental, emotional, also physical, and even spiritual state so that you can show up at your best for the people that you love and the people that you lead. And that begins with how you show up for yourself.
And does this even count on Saturdays and Sundays?
That's a great question. I get that a lot. Most Miracle Morning practitioners, there's millions around the world, they start with five days a week. That was me. Because we've been conditioned by society to think you take Saturday and Sunday off. But then they realize, wait. And you can attest to this, when you do the miracle morning, you. You're better, you feel better, you have a better day. So all of a sudden we wake up late on Saturday. You go, wait a minute. What if I did a Miracle Morning on Saturday? And then you do, and you go, oh, my weekend's better. So most people start with five days a week, and then they go to six, and some go to seven.
Even when you drink the night before, you can still wake up early and get your things done. Right?
Yeah. That sounds like a personal issue.
All right, Hal. Well, I love the book Miracle Morning. I suggest it for everybody. I mean, I'm going to put that down, go buy my book, pre order it, get it together. That'll change your life, too. Hal, thank you so much.
Thanks, Jesse. Appreciate you.
