God doesn't answer prayers instantly because the delay forces necessary suffering and growth. The speaker contrasts the ego, which chases likes and money, with the soul, which finds meaning in silence and barefoot walking. Demanding specific outcomes turns God into a butler for your ego instead of a partner in real spiritual development.
Chapters
We are seeing the results of a very depressed world because of a lot of first level insights being shared and passed around as an escape and a dopamine hit that teaches you that you're doing the work when you're not. So the first thing is to ask your soul, can you start to identify what's a first level insight? And what does my soul need? One thing I want to offer too is our ego tries to measure what our soul needs. In other words, well, the soul might say, go for a walk barefoot, go on a hike, go sit for an hour. The ego goes, that doesn't count because it doesn't matter, doesn't pay. Or that doesn't count because it's not my purpose. I decided I'm supposed to have. So the ego is very good at discounting true soulful callings. And the ego says, it only matters if I can see. I'll get likes, or people will like me, or I'll get money or. So the ego disqualifies soulful things and soul doesn't talk. In instant results, we've become disciples of the Internet. What that means is, first of all, we want a result instantly. When you're asking God for help, you got to understand that one reason God won't give it to you instantly is so you have the time to go through the suffering you need to go through to actually earn it. If you get results instantly, you have made God your butler. And I don't want a God that works for my ego. So when we're making vision boards and we're saying, please give me this thing and this thing, God didn't do what I wanted, that's because you don't want that God, that God is a slave to your ego.
