A pastor argues Christians shouldn't fear AI since the Bible doesn't condemn it, but shouldn't blindly trust it either. He cites Scripture to outline a biblical approach: practice discernment, test the technology, and remember that AI cannot replace the Holy Spirit or become a source of truth.

Should Christians be afraid of artificial intelligence? AI is getting smarter, faster, and more powerful. Some people believe it could eventually become dangerous. So what should a Christian think? Here's where we have to be careful. The Bible doesn't mention artificial intelligence. So anybody telling you the Bible says AI is evil is saying more than scripture says. But the Bible does tell us exactly how believers should respond to powerful things they don't fully understand. The scripture reminds us in 2 Timothy chapter 1, verse 7. It says, God hath not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Notice something. God doesn't tell you to ignore danger. He tells you not to be controlled by fear. Because fear and wisdom are not the same thing. Proverbs 22:3 says, a prudent person sees danger and takes precautions. So Christians should ask questions about AI. Is it telling me the truth? Is it manipulating what I see? Is it replacing my judgment? Am I giving technology authority it was never supposed to have? That's not fear, my friend. That's keen discernment. Now, here's where I think Christians need to pay attention. AI can give you information, but information is not revelation. AI can imitate a voice. It cannot become the voice of God. AI can analyze Scripture. It cannot replace the Holy Spirit. AI can answer a question. It cannot become your source of truth. 1 Thessalonians chapter 5, verse 21 says, prove all things, hold fast that which is good. That sounds like a pretty good biblical approach to technology. What is that saying? It's saying test it, examine it, use what's useful, reject what's harmful. Now let me return to the original questions, and that was this. You remember the question? So should Christians be afraid of artificial intelligence? My answer is no. But should Christians blindly trust artificial intelligence? My answer once again is no. Don't fear the tool. Don't worship the tool. Don't surrender your discernment to the tool. Use the technology. Don't let the technology use you. And here's the bigger question. Could AI ever become spiritually dangerous? That's a different question. Follow 514 Grace Church because we're going to answer it from scripture.
