After almost 10 years of doing this, I can usually tell, not always, but usually. There's a point where I'll be working with someone and something shifts and I go, she's about to take off. And then, you know, 2 months, 3 months later, there's a message in my inbox that starts with, oh my God, I have to tell you what just happened. For a long time, I thought this was just an instinct, a feeling. It isn't though. It's a pattern. The people who break through and do it quickly, They do a very specific set of things first, and almost none of them realize that they're doing it. Now, there are 7 of them, and that's what I want you to focus on today, because I want you checking these off as you go. Because if you check off all of these, or even most of them, that's a pretty good sign your next level is not far away. Hey, hey there. I'm Kate McKibbin from hellofunnels.co, and welcome to a very special pop-up miniseries episode of the Doing It Online podcast. This is Scale Like a Girl. We're 4 episodes in now, and if you're new, go back to episode 1. It explains what this whole thing is. Otherwise, grab a pen because this one's a checklist and you're gonna wanna take notes. Now, before I start, I wanna quickly say something about how you should listen to this, because there are 2 ways you can take a list like this. You can hear 7 things and feel behind on all of them, which is what many people will do, or you can notice how many you've already got or are close to. And I'd bet actual money you've already got more than half. That's the thing most people get wrong. You assume the reason that you haven't broke through to that next level yet is you're missing something enormous. Usually you're missing just one or two things. So listen for the gap and then get ready to fill it.
Build it, automate it, scale it.
This almost feels too easy. Time to build a grown-ass business.
The Doing It Online Podcast. Here's your host, Kate McKibbin.
Okay. Sign number 1, and I'm starting here on purpose. Sign number 1 is that their offer is already good. Okay. Every single one of them without fail. And here's what I find fascinating. When they come to me, they tell me, they say some version of, look, I know my offer is good. I know it gets good results. They're not saying it arrogantly. They just know because they've watched it work on enough real people. And what's wild is how different those offers can be. Like one of my clients had a home organization course priced at under $200, and she scaled that mostly with funnels to 7 figures in just a couple of years. Another one had a $500 offer, and now she makes 20 sales a day. Another one, a $200 a month membership. Another, a $997 totally DIY program. All completely different niches, by the way, and completely different price points. Having a certain type of offer or a certain price point was never the thing. The thing was that the offer was actually good. So if you're sitting there quietly certain that your offer works, that people get results, and that the thing itself is not the problem, that's not ego. That's sign number 1, and you already have it. Okay, number 2 is short and very important. They care about their clients. Like genuinely actually care, not just performative for Instagram care. They're not sitting there asking, what's the thing that would just make me the most money? They're asking what would actually get me more amazing people so I can help them more. And I know that might sound a bit wishy-washy on a list all about revenue, but it is truly, truly important. It's the reason that the offer was good in the first place. And as I already mentioned, that was the most crucial thing. All right, sign number 3, they have a big why, and that why is never just a number. So for some of them, It's simply proving either to themselves or others that they can do it, that they can hit a certain level. For some, it's purely about making a bigger impact. They truly love helping people, as we've already mentioned, and they wanna be able to help as many of them as possible. For others, it's about having a bigger life, the one on the vision board, getting outside of that stuck day-to-day feeling. And for a lot of them, it's actually their family, something they're building for people who aren't them. Why is the why important? Because in general, particularly for women, money is a terrible motivator all on its own, and it usually runs out somewhere around the point where you are fairly comfortable, and the only way to get to that next level is to bust out of that comfort. Money might get you started, but it usually won't get you the full distance, so you need something anchored underneath it. So if your why is genuinely just More money, I'd sit with that for a bit. I'm not saying there's anything wrong, not casting any shade, but I would encourage you to sit with the what does that money give you? Because I would bet my house that there is something deeper underneath that big dollar figure you're aiming for. All right, number 4 is my favorite, and it's the one that always happens right before things move. They have a why not me moment. They look at somebody who's at the level they wanna get to and they think their offer is not better than mine. They are definitely not working harder than me. And you know what? My clients get results that are just as good as their clients, if not better. So why not me? And I wanna be really clear about the flavor of this because it matters. It's not bitterness. It's not, that's not fair. It's the opposite. It's actually relief because what they've actually just realized Is that it is possible. There is somebody out there doing it. It can be modeled. It's not magic and it's not luck. Quick one before I keep going. If you've been nodding along to most of the items on this list, then I have created something just for you. It is our brand new program called Scale. We are running a pilot round very soon, which is gonna be open to just 20 people. If you'd love my help and my team's help to be able to scale your amazing online course business, Then grab the waitlist details in the show notes, pop your name down now, and when the doors open, make sure you're there so you don't miss out. All right, on to number 5. Their setup is strategic and it's actually simple. Not simple as in basic, simple as in there aren't 12 things happening all at once and competing with each other for their attention. So here's what I mean. The people who are stuck, they are almost always in a reactionary mode. Something didn't work, so they add another thing. Something worked once, so they change something else, add something else. Somebody on Instagram said to do this instead, so now they're doing that too. And what they— and what that ends up with is a business made out of reactions. The ones about to break through, they have a plan. They have a suite of offers that makes sense together, that makes sense for their business and for their people and for their goals. And critically, they are not so easily distracted. Now, I'm not saying you have to go and delete half of your business so that it is quote unquote simple. That is not it at all. The important piece is that you know what's actually working. And instead of spreading yourself across 9 different things at 10 to 15%, you're able to lock in on the few things that matter and go all in on doing those really, really well. That's it. That's the whole trick. Laser focused on a smaller number of things that are already working is one of the biggest needle movers in a business, which by the way, is almost never the advice you'll get because do fewer things properly is a far less sexy Instagram post. All right. Number 6, they double down on their level of support. And I wanna be careful with this one because I'm obviously not neutral here. So let me tell you. where I actually stand and how I think this is going to impact you. So there are definitely times in business when figuring it out yourself is the right call. I don't always have a coach. I ebb and flow, and there's seasons where I'm better on my own and seasons where I definitely need some outside help. When you're in more of a just on autopilot phase, things are just ticking along, you're maybe optimizing one or two things, then fine, figuring out on your own. Or when you're maybe just not really clear yet on what you even want, then absolutely definitely figure that out yourself first. Because here's the problem. If you don't know where you're going, it's gonna be very hard to find the help that's gonna get you there, which means you'll just end up spending money on whatever the person in front of you is selling that week. But when you are moving to a level that you've never been to before, that is not the moment to try and work it out with just yourself and ChatGPT. And the way to find that right person or right program is very specific. First of all, find someone you trust. Make sure they have been roughly where you are right now and that they have gotten to where you want to go. And the fourth thing, the fourth criteria, and this is really important, is actually looking very strategically at the kind of business they have and asking yourself, is that actually the kind of business you want? That is the last bit that everyone skips because there's absolutely no point learning to build a business from somebody whose business you'd hate to run just because you think they're funny on Instagram. So you need to work out what you want first, find somebody who has it and does it really well, and then figure out how to work with that person. That's it. That's the whole filter. That's the process. All right, sign number 7. This one is actually one of my favorites. They go really quiet. Genuinely, when I'm coaching someone who is right here, right at that moment, Quite often they actually disappear for a few weeks or even a few months. Now, of course, they might turn up and ask a question when they need something, but there is definitely a stretch where I'll be thinking like, hang on, we haven't heard from her in ages. Is she okay? And then out of nowhere, she drops into my inbox with an, oh my God, I had to share this. Look what just happened. Screenshot, screenshot, screenshot. I never thought this was possible, right? It happens every time. And it took me a while to work out what that quiet was. It's because they've stopped second-guessing. They have their plan, they know what they're doing, and all they're doing is putting their head down and they're getting it done. They don't need to have someone in there holding their hand, validating every single step because they've got the right plan, they've got the right resources, and they're just doing it. And when they come out the other side, they've definitely— Now there's one more, and I'm calling it a bonus because it doesn't happen for everyone and you don't need it to break through. But when I see it, I know somebody is about to move fast. Sign number 8 is they can reverse engineer the maths, sometimes even off the top of their head. Now, these aren't fancy maths. They're not, you know, 5 levels of conversion rates, but they know how they get their client. They've got a sales mechanism that actually works. They know what that is. And so from that, they can tell you roughly that if they want, for example, 10 more sales a week, Then they're gonna need these things to happen or this number of leads. That's it as a high level, just a back of envelope, basic rough maths of exactly what needs to happen for them to unlock that next level, to hit that goal. And when someone can do that, the whole thing stops being a guess and starts just being, which lever do I pull first? And when growth is a lever instead of a wish, well, you know what happens next. So there you are. If your offer is already good and you know it, if you care about your clients, your why is bigger than just a number, you've had your why not me moment, your setup is strategic and simple, you've got your real support locked in, you've got a plan in place, and you're ready to go all in on getting it done, that's the whole recipe. So go back through those and count how many you've got. I put money on it being more than you expected, and I put money on the gap being 1 or 2 things rather than the full 7. Which is a much better problem than the one. Now, the thing I keep coming back to on this list is number 6 and number 7, because that's— you can go and fix this week, and it tends to unlock the others. Which brings me back to our brand new program, Scale. It's a brand new high-touch container for ambitious 6-figure women ready to upgrade their business to wildly profitable, mostly automated, and actually enjoyable 6-figure months and beyond. The first round is a pilot round. Which means we're capping it at 20 people and going all in to make sure you get the best possible experience and outcomes. And everyone in that program gets the best price this program will ever be locked in for as long as they stay. If you'd like to be in the running for one of those 20 spots, the link to join the waitlist is in the show notes. Pop your name down now to get all the details and then keep an eye on your inbox. Alrighty, that's it for today, guys. I'll see you all in the next one.
