A recruitment business generated $1 million in annual revenue from just five clients. Hishem Azzouz explores whether this is repeatable and what it takes to build a million-dollar firm with a small, high-quality client base.
You did this million across like 5 clients?
Yeah, that's right. Yeah, 5 clients.
Do you think from what— if I join your business tomorrow, is that what you'd be telling me from what you've seen? Hishem, if you bring on 5 great clients, you could build a million dollars?
Absolutely, 100%. I don't see why not. And this is where I think, you know, lots of clients are just underutilized, and recruiters probably, you know, we sometimes don't do enough to mushroom clients. You know, there's some businesses that do exceptionally well at it and they have these amazing client services teams and, you know, that's a real focus for them. The biggest focus for me that allowed me to get, you know, to do a million from, from 5 clients and really it was 4 because one of them I did like maybe 2 deals with, maybe just under $100K, but it was exclusivity is how I built. I mean, yes, it's contingent and the pinnacle is retained, but there's a really nice middle ground with sort of contained or exclusive. And I really doubled down on, you know, how am I going to turn this traditional contingent business where I'm potentially up against, you know, Tom, Dick and Harry LLC down the road to just purely working with me and only me.
