In this excerpt from a Wim Hof Method group session, Wim Hof guides participants through a powerful breathing technique designed to heighten bodily sensitivity, unlock deep emotions, and retrieve trauma. The facilitator repeatedly encourages the group to let go, observe sensations, and support each other. Participants report intense physical sensations (tingling hands, off‑face feelings), vivid mental imagery, and overwhelming feelings of love that they attribute to the presence of a loved one (e.g., Tamsin’s mother). The dialogue captures moments of emotional catharsis, group energy exchange, and the facilitator’s reassurance that anxiety, trauma, and deep emotions are safe to explore. The overall tone is enthusiastic, supportive, and communal, emphasizing collective care and the transformative potential of the breathwork.

Your mom is here.
Your mom is here.
She's here. I know. I can see her. Do you feel it? I know. This breathing technique makes your body sensitive. You're going to open up the body to go into the depth and retrieve trauma. You don't know what is going to come up. But it's gonna come up. Hey, give me that! Go! Hey! Oh! Hey! Oh!
Diane.
Oh my gosh, is she all right? Oh, she's great. Oh, darling. I know.
It's unbelievable, isn't it, how powerful the breath— it's like this is just from breathing.
Yeah. Go! We are here to take care. Of each other. We are here to take care of each other, and we show it to everybody. All good, Diane. We are here. Anxiety, deep emotions, trauma. It's all right one way or the other. We will get there. 3, 2, 1, let it go! Let it go! Go! Go! And go! All good, all good. I find it really hard to watch Gabby crying because I know she's the most in control. It feels like if Gabby's crying, none of us can stay in control.
I know that. That's— I think that's what it is.
But it's a good thing, right?
Yeah.
What? It's all right. Witness me. Alfie looks totally off his face.
It's like incredible.
Well done, guys. Feeling good? Yeah. Are you guys feeling good? Yeah.
Oh my God, my hands are still tingling. Your mustache again. Like, I couldn't.
Nice group work. Come on, give some, uh, energy.
That's what we say on stage.
Energy, energy, energy, energy. Yeah!
I've never experienced anything like that before. Anything. It made me realise how much control I try and put on myself a lot of the time. And so it was like, it was all going— like, I thought so much during that. Oh, weird.
Your mom's here. Your mom's here. She's here. I know. I can see it. Do you feel it? I know.
She loves you so much.
She loves you so much.
Oh my God. The breathing was really powerful for me, and I was starting to get very vivid images and feeling physical sensations that were quite profound. And then I had this unbelievable sensation of kind of overwhelming love that was coming from Tamsin's mum. Just saying it sounds, you know, ridiculous, and, you know, I don't know Tamsin's mum. I didn't know Tamsin a few days before this. I was just absolutely moved. I had to go and tell Tamsin that her energy was in the room, and it was Overwhelming.
