A group of 13 men, mostly former football players in their 50s, became strangers who hugged constantly at a gathering. They embraced before and after every activity, from leaving the pool to approaching a waterfall, and many wept. The speaker was moved by how quickly they formed a rare emotional bond.

Let me tell you something, man. When you get 13 guys that don't even really know each other, you know, that come together, and grown men that played professional football are weeping— and guys, it was just— it's unbelievable. Here's what I love most, to be honest. Every single event that we did, at the end of it, everybody hugged. If we got out of the pool, we're all hugging. We walk over to the waterfall, everyone— you jump or hugging. You don't jump, we're hugging. We have dinner, we hug. It was like, when do you get that sense, that kind of like camaraderie from strangers at 50 years old? It just doesn't happen.
