[EP 47] Tuning Into Spirit: Unlocking the Wisdom Within with Christine Lang

A YouTube podcast episode (host Jack Canfield) interviewing Christine Lang, a former attorney turned medical intuitive and member of the Transformational Leadership Council. Christine describes her shift into energy healing after severe allergies led her to alternative medicine and meditation. She explains her clairaudient channeling process (hearing a person's spirit, receiving visuals and knowings), how physical symptoms can reflect emotional blocks, and the importance of asking better, action-focused questions of spirit. Practical tools presented include the "ball of light" visualization (gather energy to center, move to a symptom, then ask what it means) and the "divine centering" three-sentence technique: "I am safe," "There is no urgency," and "I can be calm and still." The episode also covers addressing skepticism, teaching people to access their own "elevated intelligence" (intellect + intuition), anecdotes of client breakthroughs, and Christine's book Ask Your Spirit and upcoming group offerings.

Welcome back to our podcast. Today I'm excited to introduce you to my truly fascinating guest, Christine Lang. Now, Christine's a member of the Transformational Leadership Council, which is a international association of transformational speakers, trainers, coaches and healers that meets twice a year. And that's where I met her and got to experience her work with the group and then her work with me individually as a medical intuitive, which helped me with some physical issues I was having. And one of the things I found fascinating about Christine is that she began her career as an attorney. Now, when I was selling refrigerator rentals at the Harvard Law School and people were studying to become attorneys, I never thought anyone were going to become medical intuitive. So it's a big shift that we'll talk about that. And anyway, she's going to help us look at some remarkable turns in her life, how she moved from that to becoming a medical intuitive. And also what I experienced in my work with her is what she possesses, the ability to see people's energy and communicate with their spirits, which is offering profound insights into their lives and the challenges they're facing. And Christine has taken that wisdom that she's gathered from the spirit world and now translated into the practical advice that she shares through her lectures and her podcast interviews. And her focus is not just on providing insights, but also empowering people to connect directly with their own spirits. And now she's written a book about that entitled Ask youk Spirit Subtitles Receiving Life Changing Wisdom from youm Elevated Intelligence, which is a valuable guide on how you can communicate with youh Spirit to receive direct guidance and clarity. And that's what we're gonna be discussing today. So, Christine, thank you so much for joining us. And I'm looking forward to talking about your fascinating journey and exploring the incredible work that you do. So welcome.
Thank you. Thank you for having me. Always good to have conversations with you.
No, I feel the same way. So let's talk about that. Your transition from being an attorney, which I always think of as totally up in your head, being very rational and logical, left brain, all that good stuff, and then becoming a medical intuitive is quite fascinating. I'd love to hear your story about what prompted this radical change in your career path.
I think pain is usually the driver, those kind of big shifts and transformations. For me, it was terrible allergies. They started my second year of law school. I went to law school in Southern California at usc, and my second year of law school developed these horrific allergies where I was constantly sneezing and blowing my nose. And it was before the days of the allergy meds they have now that don't make you drowsy. So my options were take Benadryl and drink Diet Coke all day to stay awake or walk around sneezing and blowing my nose. And both options were unattractive. And so as soon as I got outta law school and moved to the east coast, where I am now, my allergies went really crazy. And I just said, that's it. I got to find something else. Which was then called alternative medicine is what I started studying. And I used homeopathic remedies and Chinese herbs and different things to start improving my allergies. It's like, you know, the spirit world leaves you this trail of breadcrumbs and. And I knew I was on the right track because I was. I was. My allergies were getting better and better, and I started making the link between if I had more stress, I had more allergies. So I started doing yoga and tai chi and studied Bo Buddhism and started meditating. And what I discovered is that I could see people's energy and pick up information on them, and I didn't know how or how accurate it was, so I kept it to myself. And then I went and studied Reiki and learned how to do energy healing. And before I offered a friend an energy treatment, I would say, well, let me go home and take off my lawyer suit and meditate just to change channels in my brain and step out of aggressive lawyer mode and into the soft healer mode. And when I would do that and sit and meditate, I would know something about my friend and why she had a migraine or a backache. And I shouldn't have known it. It didn't make any sense, you know, it's nothing she had shared. Finally, I got up the nerve and shared it with my friend, and her eyes flew open and she said, how do you know that? That just happened last night. And I said, I don't know how I know that. And when she left, I went upstairs and sat in my meditation chair and said, who am I speaking to? And my spirit said, welcome home. This is who you came here to be. Get ready. And tears were streaming down my face, and she just started teaching me. I'm going to show you this when somebody's liver's compromised, I'm going to show you this energy pattern when somebody's starting to develop diabetes. And I just got lectured. I was in school for three or four hours a day, sitting in meditation, and she would just teach me what I needed to interpret what I was picking up from people. And that was 30 years ago. And a practice was born. I stopped practicing wall and it was all just word of mouth and my practice filled. So that's my journey.
That's fascinating. That is truly fascinating. So for our listeners who might be new to this concept, would you explain to them what a medical intuitive is and does and especially how, I mean, you mentioned how you perceive people's energy. Maybe go a little bit more deep into that and how to how you communicate with spirit?
I think, you know, I think every, every channeler, every intuitive I say I was say I'm a spirit channel. And a medical intuitive works a little differently. And the way my abilities work is I'm primarily clairaudient. So I hear someone's spirit. If I, as soon as I see a photograph of them or hear their voice on the phone or meet with them over zoom for a session, I immediately start hearing their spirit talk to me. And their spirit sounds similar to them, just a little kinder, a little softer, without the ego spheres present. And I then get visuals sent to me as well. So I won't necessarily look in your body like I have X ray vision, but if your foot is hurting, your spirit might show me a graphic of a broken bone and show me which bone it is in your foot. And so I receive visuals and knowings, and then I hear a person's spirit sort of narrating. A lot of times in a session, somebody you know will say, well, why is my foot hurting? And their spirit will say, why does he think his foot's hurting? And then he'll say, then I'll give you my answer. And the spirit's answer is always much larger, much more comprehensive about what's actually going on and what it means. And people come see me because usually they've tried Western medicine, they've tried. They usually come and say, I've tried everything. And I'm the last resort sometimes because I'm coming in to help people understand how their physical symptoms frequently have to do with where they store stress in their body or how their spirit is trying to send them a message. So different parts of our body correspond to different types of messages that we get. And so when people come to me with physical symptoms or with relationship troubles or career stagnation or unfulfillment, then their spirit usually says, here's the pattern, here's where it started, here's how we can break through it. And so it's really about growth and healing.
Do you find that A lot. I'm just curious. And we'll talk a little bit more about your book. But I'm just curious as you're talking. First of all, I saw a business card. It said Christine Lang Teal plr. The last resort. It'd be like, like MB in our plr.
Fine to be somebody's last resort.
Anyway, now I forgot my question. Oh, I know what it was. So I've been talking to a lot of people lately and it comes up a lot that a lot of times what shows up physically is because there's a. A mental pattern or a blockage of something wanting to merge or happen or somebody's stuck in expressing themselves or hold. Do you find that a lot?
Yeah, I do. I think another way to say that is there's limiting beliefs or fears that we use to kind of clamp down on ourself and say, well, I can't do that. I can't change. It would hurt my partner's feeling if I said I really didn't want to go on that vacation. I wanted to go to Tahiti. Right. And so we have these self imposed limiting beliefs and a lot of times our body will mirror them. So I had a client yesterday who was having all kinds of foot pain. She'd been to two different orthopedic doctors. She'd been, you know, had X rays and all the stuff. And her spirit said, the pain in your foot is telling you it's like in a physical embodiment of the phrase you keep saying in your head, which is, I don't know how much longer I can run this race. And she meant at work. And she said, oh my God, I say that every day. And so her feet were saying like, you're right, you need to shift. You can't just keep saying that and then keep doing the same thing. And so her spirit talked her about how she could make breakthroughs and how she could petition her boss for more staff and they could budget things differently. And she already sent me an email this morning. Her boss was happy to talk to her about these things and was kind of waiting for her to come forward and ask for it. So I think a lot of times those physical messages are your body sort of mirroring back to you what you're ready to work on and you're ready to release.
That makes total sense. Yeah. Yeah, I've seen that a lot. So let's talk about your book, Ask youk Spirit. And I. I know how challenging it is to write a book, so I do. And so I'm curious. What inspired you to write this book and what do you hope readers will be able to take away from it?
What inspired me to write it was when I got booked out for. I opened my calendar in March and got booked out for the entire year in one day. And I'm like, oh, no, now what? And there were hundreds of people writing us emails saying, I didn't get in. I was there at the time. And the calendar opened, I didn't get in. And my spirit said, yeah, it's time for you to stop providing fish and teach Amanda Fish. Teach these people to do it for themselves. This, the, the, the ways that energy are now coming to the earth is really expansive. And it is easier and easier for people to hear their spirit every year. And I see this in my, in my healing classes. When I teach healing classes, I teach people how to start channeling and hearing their spirit, to know where to put energy in their body or their friends. And. And I'm amazed at how quickly my students are now catching on. And they're like, oh, my gosh, I just heard my spirit say why that vitamin C isn't working or why this isn't happening. And they're, they're shocked that they're getting these. That encouraged me to write this book, to give step by step instructions for people to connect to their own spirit. I always say, I hope this book is like giving you your spirit's phone number. You can just access anytime you want.
That is a cool metaphor. I love it. I love it. And I think that's really what I've been getting kind of a Gene Houston always talks about the Zeitgeist, the big German word that means the cultural vibration of what's going on in the world. And for me, I see this constant message of, like, everyone needs to start listening to their own inner guidance, talk to their own spirit guides, if you will, their soul, their angels, whatever it might be, however you want to hold that. And that's just becoming more and more and more and more and more of a message that is evolving into the mainstream. And I don't know when you were talking about that, you were booked out for a year. I remember. I don't know if you ever saw the play Jesus Christ Superstar.
Oh, yeah, that.
There's this one scene where Jesus screams, heal yourselves.
Exactly, exactly. This is my kinder version of that. Yes.
Yeah, I'll write a book so you can do it, you know.
Yeah. I think our planet is shifting from seeking everything through external authority and external validation to seeking our internal Validation and our own inner knowing. And not that we don't need other people. I think we're all interconnected, but I think we're going to relate to each other and rely on each other differently.
Yeah, I like that. So, all right, so people are here. They're listening to this. They're going, okay. And I would encourage everyone get the book, because, first of all, whenever I'm with Christine, miracles happen. And so I know that what's in that book is going to change your life. But for those beginning this journey of developing their intuition or however you want to say that, what would be some simple practical steps that they could start actually today, just listening to this, to begin to develop or enhance those intuitive abilities.
The first one, which people get annoyed because it's so simple, but is get quiet and get still. My favorite saying of the Buddha is, be still and know. And in a culture that we live in that prizes being super productive and busy all the time, it seems counterintuitive to say, I'm going to sit and do nothing for 15 minutes. But it is amazing when we sit with the intent to just listen to our own internal landscape about what am I actually doing and feeling right now? And it's amazing how much we learn. And then to go a level deeper is to orient to a place that you have a symptom. Let's say your shoulder's bothering you, and you sit and you get quiet. And then you picture gathering all the energy in your body, like you're pulling it every time you inhale, you're pulling it into the center of your body until you have this ball of light in the center of your body, and then you move it to that shoulder, and you just wait and say, what are you trying to tell me? And when I've done this exercise in group, people, their eyes fly open like, oh, my God, I actually heard what that was about. So they're so surprised when it worked. But your body's not trying to keep a big mystery from you. It's presenting these things to you as a mirror of sorts. So it's happy to work along with you. So you might have to do it a couple of times because you'll block the message or you're afraid it might be this or that. But it really does work to start that conversation with your body first and then going in and up to your spirit.
So literally bringing that ball of light, centering that in your body, and then moving that up to where the pain or the discomfort is, and then ask the question. Yes, interesting. I remember having a. I don't know what occurred to me, just to pop into my head. I had a guy, he was a doctor, he's an anesthesiologist, and he was miserable. He said he had migraine headaches every day. And I said, well, close your eyes and let your migraine headache talk to you. And the migraine headache said, you're miserable in your work. And he said, yeah, I am. And everyone in his family was a doctor. His father, mother, uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, all doctors. And to be anything less than a doctor was like to be a, you know, a lower class person. It was. And so he became an anesthesiologist, which I thought was interesting because what do anesthesiologists do? They numb you out, right? And I said, well, ask your headache what it would like you to do. And he said, I would like to really work on cars. And that was like being a mechanic in a family that was all doctors and lawyers, you know. And so he opened up a garage to work on exotic cars. And the migraines went away. And so it's like it's available to us if we just learn how to do it. So that's a very valuable tool you just share with us. So what would you say? There's a lot of people that are skeptical about all this stuff. You know, it's like this just doesn't match their western belief system. We're all trained in allopathic medicine. We're bombarded with pharmaceutical ads all day long, especially at the end of the day when we're watching the news, which will make you crazy anyway. And it's all pharmaceutical stuff, you know, to get rid of this thing and that thing and other thing. So we're conditioned with that. But what would you say to someone who's skeptical about the idea of medical intuition or communicating with one's spirit?
Well, first I say healthy skepticism is a good thing. And I think it's not a coincidence that the universe and my spirit encouraged me to be a lawyer first, because I bring that lawyer skepticism to this. And people will come up to me and say, oh, you've got to take this class or read this book. It's really woo woo. You'll be so into it. And I roll my eyes, right? So even though I'm out here doing this, I still have a really healthy amount of skepticism. And I always say that you have to prove it to me, right? And it has to be proven. And I have always said to people, if, if we don't get Answers in your session, I'll give you your money back. And I think in 27 years, I've had given one person her money back because she wanted to know when she would meet a certain celebrity. And her spirit's like, never, right? So she was really dissatisfied. She wanted to date somebody who was not available. But. But in general, people get the answers. They might be the answers they thought they were going to get, like your anesthesiologist. But. But that. That idea of. Of bringing skepticism to it is fine. And when people say, well, what, are you offended when people don't believe in what you do? I always say, oh, no, not at all. Because you know what happens to people who don't believe in gravity? They stick to the earth. Anyway, this works. It just is. I've been doing it for so many years, multiple clients every single day, and. And they. They keep coming back and trying to book more sessions. And I. I know it's because it works. And it's empowering to have that aha moment where you get plugged into your deepest truth. And I just love being part of those aha moments when people connect the dots of why they have that relationship pattern on repeat or why they have that chronic illness. Right. It just. It lights them up and me up to be able to get that wisdom. And I always say, nobody's got your back like your spirit. Best coach 24 7.
That's true. Always available, never on vacation. You know, it's like, sorry, your doctor's out. Call back next week.
Exactly.
I love it. So we talked about the ball of light, bringing it up to where the pain or the discomfort or the broken bone is or whatever, and then having a conversation with that. Could you share another technique that you share in your book to help people start that conversation with the spirit we were talking about.
Here's something that I think is really powerful, which you don't even have to believe in. What I do to get the benefit of this. These are. It's what I call the divine centering technique, and it's in the book. And the key with this is there's three sentences, and you say each one until your body believes you. And you'll know when your body believes you because your shoulders will drop or you will sigh or exhale. And there's three sentences. And I'll. I'll say them relatively quickly here. We're not doing the exercise, but I can do it in a room full of people. And you can hear a pin drop. And it lowers your blood pressure and slows down your heart rate within about three minutes. It's really crazy. Some. Some healing guides gave this to me before I was doing a. A. A guest expert appearance on a. On a big platform, and it was really powerful. So there's three sentences, and I would say write these down and then do them when you can really pause between each one. And the first one is, I am safe. So you're just saying, I am safe. I am safe. Repeating that in your head until you feel your central nervous system believe you and your shoulders drop a bit. And then the second sentence is, there is no urgency. This is one I have to say about a million times before I believe it. So there is no urgency. You keep saying that. And then the third one is, I can be calm and still. And by the time you've said the third sentence repeatedly and you feel yourself settle into that, people tell me sometimes they get messages right away, or they just have a knowing of, like, oh, this is what's true for me. I don't want to go to that event. I don't want to host that party that I said I would host. Whatever. The thing is, you get these awarenesses of what is actually true for you because it drops you out of your head and into your body and into that alignment with your spirit. So I have people do that exercise before they meditate, before they journal, before they do automatic writing, even before you're gonna read tarot cards, because it gets you so aligned with yourself and with your spirit that it increases your accuracy tenfold.
Cool. Say the three sentences one more time.
Sure. The first one is, I am safe. The second one is, there is no urgency. And the third one is, I can be calm and still.
Very good. I remember when you worked with me, you had me say those sentences. Yeah, that's very cool. Even just listening to that and saying them for the very short period of time that we had here, I felt my shoulders drop a little bit.
So, yeah, people are always surprised. And again, it's one of those exercises where when my guides first gave it to me, I'm like, I don't know. What's that gonna do? I'm still the skeptic, even after all these years. And then I did it, and it was a room with about 150 people. And people came out to me afterwards, said, oh, my gosh. That was, like, did more for me than the meditations that we did earlier, than the sound bath and all the things, because I really believed what I said. I stuck with it until I believe myself. And us learning how to reassure our own central nervous system and work with the vagus nerve and all that. Again, so empowering. When you don't need that outside tool, it's something you can do for yourself. And I think it's the start of us believing ourselves. I think. So often our body manifests symptoms for us because our body's trying to say something that our mind doesn't want to look at. Right?
Yeah. I was interviewing a woman a couple days ago who does a lot of healing work, but with the pulse energy, it's a machine. And she said, you know, pain is basically starts out as a whisper, just trying to get your attention. And if you don't listen, it'll start screaming. If you don't listen to that, it's going to create disease in your body. It'll stop you until you pay attention. I think that's so true.
And I think the first thing, even before it starts off as a whisper of pain, it starts off as emotional discomfort.
Emotional discomfort.
Because feelings are the language of the soul. And so as soon as you start feeling emotionally uncomfortable, we are taught in our culture, suppress it down. If it's going to make anybody feel uncomfortable, if it's going to be the sticky wicked and it's going to cause a problem, just go along to get along. Be productive. Say what's expected of you. And so we sort of suppress what we're feeling with the idea that we'll go look at it later and later never comes. That's how that negative emotion gets stored and internalized in the body.
I often use the metaphor that it's like having a fire alarm in your body, in your house, and it goes off and you go, well, that's really disturbing. I'm going to go cut the wire. And so I'll go have a drink, I'll go watch tv, I'll go out and dance tonight or something. But we don't really listen to the alarm, which is saying, hey, there's something to pay attention to.
Exactly.
There's a woman named Joan Rosenberg who's a member of the association for Transformational Leaders, which is an outgrowth of tlc, which you're a member of. And she teaches at Pepperdine University, and she wrote a book. I don't remember the exact title, but it's something like 90 seconds or something like that. And she says there's nine uncomfortable feelings that none of us want to feel. You know, anger, resentment, guilt, shame, you know, sadness, grief, whatever. And that if you just let yourself feel them, they will move through you. And, you know, if they were giving you information, you'd pay attention to it, and they want you to do something, usually in relationship to it. And we're just trained as a culture to numb it out, you know, with pharmaceuticals, with drugs, with alcohol, with sex, with, you know, whatever. And I remember being in the rainforest in Ecuador, and this shaman saying, the problem with the people of the north, you North Americans, is you're all addicted to comfort. And you have to be willing to experience the discomfort to get the messages of what wants to happen and go into that, because often it invites us to take action. Like you're saying, ask your boss to do this, or you want to quit your job, or you want to ask your husband this, or you're going to say, no, I don't want to go on that vacation. And it's uncomfortable, but that's where the growth lies. So we are all running around trying to not be uncomfortable, and in the process, we're making ourselves ultimately more uncomfortable and eventually sick if we're not careful.
Yeah. Yeah. And I just. I had a session with a client yesterday, and he said, well, I. You know, I don't want to do therapy because I don't want to just bring up negative memories. And his spirit gave him an important distinguishment. And he said, there's a big difference between processing your emotions and dwelling in them.
Right.
And too many people go into therapy or go talk to somebody or just think that they. If they examine how they feel, they're just like sitting in a mud puddle. Nothing good happens from it. But his spirit gave him the visual of clouds passing by in the sky. And he said, there should always be movement. Even if you're not having total clarity when you first touch that negative emotion, there should be movement to it. So you don't feel like it's agonizing. You don't. You know, you feel like there's something happening. And walked him through that process of kind of looking at the emotion and then saying, what's underneath that and what's underneath that.
Right.
And so that you made sure you have movement to it, and then it just moved right through his body. And he was amazed how much more peaceful he felt, not holding that like a little rock in his stomach that he was refusing to look at.
Right, right. I'm curious, as you've helped others connect with their spirits, has your own spiritual practice evolved? And if so, how. I'm curious.
It evolves in that. Well, one, I think every. The more you connect to the spirit world in general, the more you expand, and the more expansive you are, the more things you can pick up on. So I get more healing techniques every week that are given to me by different healing guides that come in and get assigned to me for periods of time. And so, yes, my abilities and my practice is always evolving, and my understanding of how things work is always evolving in the spirit world. And part of the goal in the book is when people ask their spirit questions and they don't get answers, it's because they don't understand enough about the spirit world to ask questions. And I compare it to AI. AI is only as good as the prompt you put in, right? And so. So I've. I've coined the term elevated intelligence, which is the combination of your intellect and your intuition. And. And I think, you know, I'm convinced the best, most successful people, from your amazing plumber to your amazing brain surgeon, are already using their elevated intelligence. It's like the plumber who says, let me just check into the house one more time, and finds that tiny leak. Or the brain surgeon who says, let me go one more extra stitch, right? Or all those people who are just seemingly amazing at their jobs or get these great ideas about how the market's going to trend. They're tapping in and letting their spirit be a part of that process. And so, to me, that's always evolving. Just like AI is always evolving, your elevated intelligence can always be evolving. So as I'm teaching more and more people how to connect to their spirit and they ask a wider and wider variety of questions, then I'm learning, too, because I'm learning every day in session. I learn from people's spirits. I always say, if I won the lottery tomorrow, my life wouldn't look any different. I'd still have sessions, because I love talking to people's spirits because they each bring a different perspective, and I learn so much every day from them.
You know, I don't know if you notice, I started out my career as a high school teacher, and then I became a teacher of teachers. And then at one point, I married a psychotherapist, and she taught me how to do psychotherapy. And I was living in Massachusetts, where there were no licensing laws for psychologists yet, so I can practice psychology. And so I had a private practice. And I swear every client that came in was dealing with something that I needed to look at. You know, it's like when I handled that, I didn't get clients with those issues anymore. You know, so.
Exactly. That's how the universe is always trying to help you. When I went through my divorce. I'm like, every other client came in was going through a divorce. I'm like, all right, universe, come on. But it was like the universe's way of coaching me, bringing in these other perspectives. Yeah, but that's the perfection of the universe. As you're helping others, you're getting helped in the same way. I love it.
So we can have a new quote. When the teacher's ready, the student that will push them will appear.
Exactly.
So I'm curious. You talked about better prompts if you were advising someone. Okay, there's the signal. So what would make a better prompt or what kind of question or if any coaching on writing, asking.
That's a great question. I will tell you that's a great question. And I will say, focus less on what you don't have and more about what's blocking you from what you want. So when people come to me and say to their spirit, you know, ask my spirit, when am I going to meet the man of my dreams? Sometimes their spirit is silent, and it's because they can't. They can't accurately answer that question of when you'll meet this. This great partner, because the answer is when you do your work. Right. So the qu. The right question is, what's standing in between me and meeting my ideal partner? And when we ask that, she goes, oh, it's your fear of commitment. And here's where that started, and here's how you can have that breakthrough, right? And then the person meets someone, right? And same thing with getting pregnant, getting a new job. I had someone last year, and they got laid off. And I said, your spirit will not tell you, here's when you're going to get a new job. She's going to say, here's the things you need to tackle and heal from that last toxic work environment so you can magnetize to yourself the best new job. And as soon as she started doing it, I heard, she'll be hired by April. And she was given. She was given a job last month. So she did her work right. And so when she asked the right question, she got the right answer. So the question needs to focus, not on, here's the thing I want. When will you bring it to me? As if the universe is a giant ATM machine. It's just going to spit out the things you want. It's, how can I bring to myself the thing I desire? How am I in the way? Because I know I want it, and yet I haven't created it yet. So that tells me there's some obstacle. And your healing and your expansion and your growth lies in the dealing with that obstacle.
Yeah, that makes so much sense. That makes so much sense. I remember having a client who. This was at one of my seminars and she wanted a relationship. And what she discovered in the work with me was that there was no room in her house, in her life for a man. In other words, imagine this, a queen size bed. There's this much room on the bed to sleep on, and the rest of the bed is covered with magazines and books and all kinds of stuff. So there was no room in our bed. Just said. And then we said, well, what about the closet? Oh, no, there's no room for. Then leave it a place to hang up this coat, you know. So she went out and she cleaned her bed off. She went out and she bought a man's bathrobe and some slippers and created some space. And she started to look at what her fears were in terms of having a man in her life, giving up control and so forth. And then literally within six weeks, she had a relationship going. So I love this idea. Not when, but what's in me that's getting in the way of what am I doing? What's the pattern that's blocking this from happening? Fascinating. I. I don't have any more questions, but I know you have more you can say. So if there was a question you wish I'd asked you, what is it?
I would just say, I think that some of the things I want people to know are, you're never alone. And that when we feel disconnected and alone is usually when we're at that precipice of growth, when we're feeling scared, when we're feeling confused, right? And if we can see that upset as a doorway and what lies on the other side is that next chapter of your life, that's going to be infinitely better. Then we get curious instead of critical as soon as we're critical. This is so unfair. I don't know why this is happening to me or why does this always not go my way? We're closing off from help from the universe. And when we start playing with the universe and inviting those miracles in, right? I love to say to the universe, okay, universe, wow, me. And the universe loves to show off, right? When I was looking for my house with my husband, I was like, all right, universe, we've looked at so many houses, they're all starting to blur together. Just wow me. I'm tired of giving you the list. You know what I like? Just wow Me. And then we found this house that's like got way more than we ever even thought of. I mean, things like storage areas that are humongous, you could park a car in or upstairs, and all these crazy things in this house, right within our budget, it's 50,000 less than we thought we were going to spend. So, you know, I think the universe just chuckles and says, okay, watch this, right? And loves to be playful in that way. But if I'd approached it with, oh my God, there's so many houses and I don't know what to look at and I don't know how to choose. I mean, we make all of our important decisions by our intuition. We just don't acknowledge that. Because if you even think about something like buying a house, I mean, this one has a two car garage and this one has a three car garage. And this one's closer to the city and this one's in a better school district. It is really apples to oranges to grapefruits. And so we think we're using logic, but in the end we make a decision based on feeling and then we use our mind to rationalize how we got there. Well, you know, this does have the better school district and it does have the two car garage, but it's got. And so if we can embrace this idea, we already use our intuition to make those decisions. It actually streamlines your life. When I, when I went in last time to buy a cell phone, there's like 9,000 different kinds of cell phones and do you want this one or that one? And do you need this feature that. And I just said, oh my God, my. Feels like it's in the Cuisinart. And I just stood in front of the whole display case and Verizon and I just said in my spirit, which one? And she said that one. And one of them just lit up and I said, I'll take that one. And I go, oh my God, that's. That's our best seller. That's the best. I'm like, just give it to me. And it does everything I needed to do. It doesn't have all the stuff I don't need worked out perfect. That's how I make a lot of choices. Down to going to the grocery store and standing in front of the avocados and saying which one will be ripe in two days when we're going to make, you know, guacamole? And I can just see one kind of light up. And so to engage with it in.
That way, it's easier it's very interesting. My wife has this amazing intuitive ability. We can be in a city, not have any reservations like Paris, and we're walking around and it's time to eat dinner, and we'll just walk. And all of a sudden, like, some entryway to some restaurant lights up. I swear to God, there. And we go there, and it's phenomenal. It's phenomenal. I don't know how. I mean, I do know how, but, you know, when it first started, I didn't know, how do you do that? You know, And. But that's exactly what. What it is. She's very intuitive herself. And for me, someone said the other day, it was so cool. They said, you know, it's like when we're little children, we know what we want. You know, we're just really clear about what we want, what we don't want. I don't want that taste. I don't want that experience. I want that. I don't want that. And he said, if you have a room full of toys and you open it up and a boy or a girl runs in there, they don't go over to a toy like a Barbie doll and put a pendulum out and go, is this going to be good for me or not? You know, they just go to the toy that attracts them the most, you know, and. And. And then they play with it. They have fun with it. And if they get bored with it, they go see what's next, you know, And I think that's a lot of what the joy, you know, is. I always think that's a part of the feedback system.
I think that we try to, as we get older, like your using the pendulum. I think we try to rationalize our decisions before we let ourselves just enjoy them.
Yeah, right.
And. And so getting in touch with your intuition allows you to have more of a free flow of just quick enjoyment to things.
Yeah.
And it. I mean, to me, I would say the greatest gift of somebody connecting with their spirit and getting that guidance is that you learn that the universe isn't random. You're never being punished.
Right.
Your symptoms aren't a punishment, they're an assist. And when you switch how you relate to that, everything becomes something that's being done for you, not to you. And you just evolve so much more easily. And it becomes a bit of a game. Right. It kind of gamifies the whole idea of, okay, now what's going on right now? When I get a symptom, my first response sometimes is still like, darn it, why is My ankle hurting. I didn't do anything to my ankle. And then I go, oh, yeah, let me see. And I sit down and my spirit goes, oh, it's because I needed to tell you this. And I'm like, ooh, good point. Okay. And within an hour, the pain's gone. I got the message, what a great system, right? If I was sitting in meditation all day long like a monk up on a. On a hilltop somewhere, I probably wouldn't need the physical symptoms because I'd just be, you know, broadcasting and tuning into my spirit all the time, and I'd get the messages. But life keeps lifing, and I'm running a business and I'm doing all this. So those little mini pain points I have learned, if I catch them right away, I get the message that my body releases them. Cause they're not needed anymore and things go on smoothly.
Yeah. If you answer the door, person stops knocking.
Good analogy.
I love it. One of the questions often. Well, I'll ask my high self, my guides, my spirit, whatever, is, what's the next step in my own spiritual growth? And then the next question I ask is, how am I most likely to screw it up? And then what do I need to do to make sure I don't? And I get real good answers, you know, that's so great.
One of the questions I like to ask is, what am I now ready to hear?
Right?
Or what is it time for me to know? Because I recognize that when the universe withholds information or doesn't give me an answer right away, it's because I can't hear it. So when a client, like the client I mentioned earlier, who got laid off, she reached out to me that day, enraged, because she makes a lot of money and she. She, like, tripled the earnings of this company. She'd done a lot for them. I'm sort of a good old boys network. And they were never going to promote a woman up to the right ranks. And so they just let her go. And she was incensed and outraged, understandably so. And she wanted to schedule, you know, something, I'll pay whatever. Just get me in this week. And her spirit said, no, I won't talk to her this week. She can't hear what I need to say until she calms down the righteous indignation. And that's part of being a human. We're not trying to talk her out of it, but let her have the human emotion of it. And then when she settles down and is in more of a place of surrender, not resignation, and defeat. But just, okay, what's here for me? Then she'll be actually able to hear what I have to say. And so I really look at that and go, okay, how much am I just fighting like a cat in the bathtub? And how quickly can I remember, okay, this is being done for me, not to me. How is this perfect, Right? One of my guides said to me once, what if every time something confusing happened? You said, thank you, universe. I'm sure this is perfect. I was like, oh, that would change things a lot. Training my brain to see it through that lens. It's super powerful.
Yeah. I always ask the question, what's the opportunity that this is? Because there's something wanting to emerge in that moment that I'm not paying attention to. It's getting my attention. I want to just share one more story with you, and then we'll start to wrap this up. It's about the power of a question. So, as you know, I do these ayahuasca journeys and so plant medicine for people who don't know, with shamans and usually in the rainforest somewhere, often in Costa Rica. And one night we were given the possibility to hold the intention of who would you have me become? So you're asking your spirit, who would you have me become? And so I. The medicine comes on. I asked the question, and it's called mother ayahuasca. It's a feminine energy. She goes, wrong, wrong question. I said, wait a second. That's the question they told me to ask. And I said, no, it's the wrong question. I said, what's the right question? He said, just ask me who I am. Who should I be being, not what should I become. I swear to God, I laid there for 30 minutes just stunned by that. This was such a. A thing about how we're all trying to become what we think we're supposed to become in order to be successful, acceptable, rich, whatever it might be, lovable, worthy of whatever. And it was just like, stop doing that. You know, just allow yourself to be who you are. And it was like, oh, okay. And it's fascinating because it was after that that I got to the point where I'm saying, okay, I'm going to retire mostly at 90% at the end of the summer. And that's something I never thought I would do because my whole being was tied up with being useful, being valuable, making a difference. Now, like you, I love to coach people. I love. I get off on seeing people make progress and unfold and wake up and all that. I'm sure that'll keep happening in whatever way it does. But this idea of running a company and managing 12 people and having them earn all this money for the payroll and yada, I don't want to do that anymore. And so it was just like, okay, okay, just let it go. Surrender. And like, as soon as I made that decision, I felt like I was 20 pounds lighter. I've resigned from a bunch of boards of directors. I've, you know, scheduled nothing past August. And I am looking forward to just.
Seeing started becoming Jack 5.0.
Right. The next iteration of the new version of Jack.
Yeah, I think that. That, you know, my spirit states it as when I'm not careful, I get in so much into doing that. I'm a pusher. I'm pushing everything forward. Right. That's the assumption is you want something done, you have to do it yourself. Or I push me or I push my team. And she just asked that throughout each day, are you pushing or are you flowing? And then I feel into. And I always get this visual of I want to be sitting on a raft and just leaning one way or the other to tilt the raft in the direction I want to go. I don't want to be paddling my little heart out like I did through law school and I did through, you know, so much of my career. I want to just be flowing. And that's that distinction I try to make each day, too.
Yeah. Well, someone reminded me a while back about that song we all learned as children. Row, Row, Row youw Boat Gently down the Stream Merrily, Merrily, Merrily Joy, joy, joy, joy Life is but a dream it's all an illusion anyway. Right. So we have these things built into the fabric of our childhood stories that sometimes we don't even realize the power of them. So I love you. I wish we could do this for hours sometimes. We probably will. And I look forward to seeing you again at one of our conferences and being with you. If people want to find out more about your work, obviously you're booked up for a year. But also, I know you speak. You have a podcast. You got this book book that's now out there's.
And there's ways starting in the summer, they're going to be different ways that people can work with me. I'm going to start more group events and group teachings so that people can. I kind of train other healers and so I can. I want to train people to be able to hear their spirit. So especially people who've read the book and they want to Take it further and get more instruction of why will my spirit answer this question but not this one? The book covers a lot of that. I want to go into more detail. So my website is christine lang.org and there'll be lots of stuff. There's ongoing classes that I'm always running for people to be able to ask questions and get in to see me for sessions. We open them up. When I get cancellations, we put them up on social media so you can follow me on Instagram or YouTube or Facebook. We get probably one cancellation a month and people grab those. So there's numerous ways to work with me and sample what I do.
Fabulous. We'll put that up on the screen and in the show notes. And I encourage you watching. If you haven't gotten in how amazing she is and fallen in love with her by now, then you need to check your pulse, you know, so get her book. And if you get a chance, which you can choose to have, you know, I would really encourage you to work with her and most importantly, work with your intuition, work with spirit. Develop that ability to communicate with this higher aspect of yourself and of the universe. So, once again, thanks for joining me, Christine. It was a real delight.
Thank you so much, Jack. Always love talking with you.
