We were looking for a rural property and the Adelaide Hills really is unbeatable. The climate's lovely, the outlook is lovely. We wanted to have a house that was comfortable to live in but was not burning too many fossil fuels to achieve that result, so high insulation and the thermal efficiency led to choosing a builder who is sensitive to those needs. I had some misgivings early in the piece because of all the stories that you hear about the difficulties of working with the builder and construction, and some people are concerned about being taken advantage of with variations along the way, but it became increasingly clear to me that we were dealing with a reputable company whose reputation was more important to them than profit, and as a consequence, we built a trust and mutual respect that made it a happy relationship. Enduro was recommended by the architect. We spoke to a couple of their previous clients and they all spoke well of the company.
I always believe that culture is from top down with good management. There's really good mutual respect for the different trades and skills within the company, whether you're a site manager or whether doing all the administration. We always felt very welcome and everybody knew who we were. We weren't just dealing with one person, we felt that we were dealing with the whole company.
The close relationship that we've established with Induro, there's a great deal of mutual respect. There would be no job that didn't have some hiccups along the way, but we've always found an amicable way of solving those problems cooperatively. We formed quite a strong friendship with the company and staff. When they came to hand over the property to us, everybody turned up. It was like Christmas.
The noise level, the power consumption, it was just lovely to have a very cool environment and this This is a really comfortable space because it's so protected and insulated against noise. I enjoy the peace and tranquility. The kitchen and the dining room are just special areas for me because they're lovely to be able to work in there and host people and share my home with as many people and family and friends as I can. Everybody had a sense of pride in the job that they did and we had a sense of pride in what they achieved for us.
