Robyn Anderson shares three setup steps for Claude desktop: use the app instead of the web version, understand Claude's three modes (Chat for strategy, Cowork for work tasks, Code for development), and configure memory and privacy settings before you start.
Chapters
If I was learning Claude from scratch, here are the 3 things that I would do right away. Number 1, download the desktop version. You're not getting the full power of Claude if you're working in the web app. Number 2, you have to understand the Trinity. Claude Chat is for strategy. Claude Cowork is for doing work, building proposals. Claude Code is for coding and builds, so building apps, building website pages, and actually just developing your ideas into fruition. Number 3 is probably most important. Understand skills, connections, and the settings. You gotta make sure your memory is turned on and you understand privacy. If you want to get step-by-step training of how to use Claude, I have a 30-day program. It's 5 to 10 minutes a day. I've had 400 small business owners, non-technical people just go through it, and the feedback has been amazing. I'll actually give you a week free. You can get in there and do as much as you can because I know you're gonna love it, and I know this is so important. See you in the club.
